About this listen

Coulter's medieval melody continues with this, the second novel in the Medieval Song series.

Lord Graelam de Moreton is willing to accept his new bride, Kassia, as she appears - innocent and guileless. But appearances can be deceiving....

Unbellievable innocents

Kassia is the most innocent gullible person I've ever read about. She was so annoying it was hard to listen to the complete book. The reason for the three stars is because I continued until the end.

a story of abuse

I failed to really see the love story. This man spent the whole journey abusing his wife, treating her like shit, putting other women above her and in the end he apologizes all is well again...

Narrator Nightmare

Have to quit this series. The narrator’s voices especially for the women make me cringe. Not sure what Kassia’s voice was supposed to be but sounded like a whiney sullen little kid with an occasional attempt to sound French. First book by same narrator was terrible but thought I’d give her a second chance. Just can’t do it any more.

Fire Song

A few twists and turns in this store of Kassia and Gralam but a very good read

The hero should come with trigger warnings.

Great narration. Horrible hero. He raped a character in the first book of the series then forced himself on his wife in his story. Him being a complete horse's rear in addition to other issues made this difficult to finish.

A MEDIEVAL MEDIOCRE MELODRAMA

This is book 2 but could be a stand alone book, this is not one of my favourite CC books, it was a bit too unbelievable. If you like Coulter's books then I am sure you will like this listen which was an enjoyable listen, but frustrating in places and was either too sweet or too sour.

Worth a credit? Mmmm debatable, I wouldn't call it a wasted credit but there are better out there.

Meh

I only read this book because I started this series with a later book and wanted to read Graelam & Kassia's story. That said this story was just ok. Both characters are much more likable in future books. I'm all for a character starting out with major flaws and making mistakes and then growing and becoming a better person as the realize the error in their thinking. This is obviously what the author was attempting with Graelam with his view and attitude towards women; however the change felt a bit forced and too quick right at the end. I'm glad I read it because I truly like these characters in the next books, but I'll never ever read it again.

Loved to loathe Lord Graelam

I was reminded why I told my children not to share their problems with anyone but each other. It's because it's easier for you to forgive each other and move on when you aren't having every member of your family putting in their two cents.
I am still struggling with not wanting to slap Graelam in defense of his lovable wife. The story was compelling but sometimes drove me to distraction wondering when or if Graelam would ever remove his head from his posterior.
I loved Kassia's character from start to finish and hoped she'd not lose her fighting spirit. Excellent story and narration.

Why even bother with this?

I hated Graelam from the first novel and this novel didn't do him any services. Fantasy of an asshole is just real life. This novel sucked!

I can't continue with this.

This story is full of rape and abuse from a husband to his wife NOT ROMANTIC at all.
