About this listen

Fixit, she's out of this world....

This short novella follows Fixit, a worker on the surface of Tau Ceti Prime. She is an ace mechanic who keeps the automated harvesting machines in good running order. She has never missed a quota in her efforts help to feed all the people "topside" in the giant floating cities in the sky.

She has to make her first trip to the technologically advanced cities for the first time in her life to make an emergency shipment to New Terra City because Betweeners had hijacked the prior shipment.

With the help of her pinger friends, the maintenance drones who are there to aide her, she gets an old airship repaired to make the flight.

But things go bad when she is intercepted by those same pirates. Can she hold out until the Sky Guard can arrive?

Would you consider the audio edition of Fixit to be better than the print version?

considering i love reading and listening to books,I can't really compare the two in this way. I love reading the words taking my time to enjoy the scenery. I also love listening especially if the VA's bring something new to the stage. is it better? in some regards but I still love both platforms.

What did you like best about this story?

which to pick... I love a lot of stuff in this story the characters, the scenes. the adorable pingers! i would really like to see more, especially scenes with Vega and Vashon! can't wait for more

What about Hollie Jackson’s performance did you like?

oh man! everything! her voice just sounds perfect for Narrating and how she brings emotion is something else.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

I did listen to it in one sitting! it is that good!

Any additional comments?

I thoroughly enjoyed both reading and listening to this book and I'm sure you will too. this gets reader's seal of approval

"Thrilling!"

A nice piece of sci-fi. It's incredibly short, and a bit generic as a story. Still, it's a nice quick piece of sci-fi I'd be curious to see made into a full novel.

A brief peek into an interesting world

Here's to hoping three is more as it feels like there is more left to be said...like the story is unfinished.

Leaves you wishing the story was longer...

This is an interesting world, which almost seems like a Star Wars subplot. A longer version of this would be excellent. The narrator has a sexy voice. I want to see what happens between the main character and the Amazon. There are three worlds to explore. There are the few people on the ground, the betweeners and the floating city people. In a longer version I believe she could spend more time with her machines, developing that relationship and she could help us to feel, smell and know the world she invented.

Gay and Lesbian
I am glad this appeared under Sci-Fi Contemporary, as most of the author's work seems to be pigeon holed into the gay and lesbian category. Not being either, I would not have ever discovered her work. I will buy the sequel to this and if I like it, I will check out some of her other works.

narrator
I already said she has a sexy voice, what more do you want?

Great short story! I didn't even bother reading the description before wanting this book. Erik and Hollie are a perfect combo! Great sci-fi short about mechanic and and her A.I. friends. And of course a sweet little female romance which I always enjoy in Erik's books. Of course I think it's Hollie's voice that makes it so much sweeter!

Loved it!
