About this listen

David Hagberg's New York Times best-selling Kirk McGarvey series continues in Flash Points, the action-packed thriller audiobook about a plot to lead a president towards impeachment

The audiobook begins just after the US presidential election, when a man of Trump's stripe wins. Determined to push him out of office, members of the president's staff hire an assassin to set up three terrorist attacks in the US. Meanwhile, a Pentagon general contacts mid-level intelligence operatives in 15 different countries, concocting a plot in which the president will be faced with supposed attacks along flash points, places where trouble could easily erupt into an all-out nuclear war: Pakistan/India; China/Taiwan; North vs. South Korea; Russia/Ukraine. The idea is to overwhelm the new president so that he could not possibly make the right decisions. Dangerous, but the effect would cause the public to demand that Congress impeach him. In order for their plots to succeed, both groups must first eliminate the one man who could possibly stop them: retired CIA assassin Kirk McGarvey.

OUTSTANDING!!!!

This is one of those books that once I turned it on, I could not stop listening to. This is such a really good, fast paced, well written book. The characters are believable and the plot is plausible.
The hero of this story is Kirk McGarvey. One time assassin , one time Director of the CIA (short term). He and the antagonist (Kamal) have dealt with each other before.

There's a new president who is inexperienced and making poor choices as a leader for this country. A consortium of military officials had decided that McGarvey must die in order for their hired terrorist to plan multiple attacks that will cause the president to look incompetent and hopefully be impeached.
When McGarvey's car is bombed he loses a leg. This does not stop him and he trains with his prosthetic. (This book is not politically correct for those that might get insulted and his prosthetic is referred to as a peg leg ). Anyway with the help of his girlfriend who is also a member of the CIA and a few others McGarvey figures out the who and why before it's too late.
Jeff Gurner is perfect for this book. Outstanding narration.
This book is absolutely fantastic and has my HIGHEST RECOMMENDATION!!

Just not for me!

I had hopes for this book given some of the reviews I had read. However the combination of 2 dimensional characters, clichéd writing and a narrator who seemed as bored as I was made it clear this book was a waste of a credit. No thanks.

Should have read the reviews

While some obviously like the story and the characters I didn't find this appealing at all and gave up about 1/3 of the way through. I have no idea how this ended up in my wishlist. I can count on 1 hand all the books I've just given up on of the hundreds and hundreds that I've read. Simplistic plotting. Was this supposed to be kid fiction?
