About this listen

Roadkill...

A funny thing happened to Roger and Savanna Aldiss on the Interstate - they hit a dinosaur. But that's nothing compared to what awaits them down the road. For something is at work to reverse time itself, something which makes the clouds boil, glowing with strange lights, and ancient trees to appear out of nowhere. Something against which Roger, Savanna, a motorcycle gang, and others will make their final stand. Prehistory lives as ferocious dinosaurs run amok! Science-fiction and horror fans (and especially B-movie lovers) will enjoy this gory, action-packed thriller in the tradition of Roger Corman and George Romero.

A tad confusing, but not bad

This book is short, and for the most part, sticks to the little bubble it lives in, but here and there the author sprinkles in tidbits of the outside world and what may have happened before the events of the story began.

This both piques interest and confuses. Where is the focus? Is this a tale about survival of a small band of folks, or something larger? In the end, I don't feel as if either is properly done, which is a shame as there were some decent characters here, and the world event that caused their predicament could have also made for an interesting tale.

Short but fun ride!

I was given this free review copy audio book at my request and have voluntarily left this review.

This was like Jurassic Park but on a much bigger scale (and much more gory). I really enjoyed it. I wish the dinopocalypse reason would have been explained, but that wasn't a big deal on this one. If you want a short, exciting listen, this would be a good choice.

So. Much. Fun.

I couldn't have loved this book any more than I did! Though, as a lover (and maker) of horror, I believe I am the target audience for this kind of tale.

'Flashback' is a story about a couple living their lives, driving down the interstate, when they suddenly come face to face with what appears to be a living dinosaur. As the story evolves (hah!), we discover what forces may have caused the world to roll back in time, for the weather to boil and for prehistoric monsters to rise. I can't say more for fear of spoilers, but I will say that this book has a fantastic cast of characters - dynamic, compelling and authentic.

I also can't say enough good things about Travis Baldree. He is out-of-this-world fantastic with narration and he doesn't disappoint here. I would recommend this story to absolutely anyone who enjoys fun horror - this one is really a doozy! I will likely listen again! 10/10

Flashback Was a Blast To Listen To

Flashback was an action-packed adventure from the start. I thoroughly enjoyed listening to it. The storyline was good; apocalyptic-ish as well as noir-ish while having a realistic feel. The main characters, Roger and Savannah were likeable as well as the supporting extras.

While this is the first audiobook I've listened to by Wayne Kyle Spitzer it won't be the last. I have listened to Travis Baldree before and he is an exceptional narrator. He took this story to the next level. He was the perfect reader for this story. He really puts the listener into the story and gives it that extra element of excitement.

Flashback is an overall great listen and I hope there's a follow up. I'd reccomend giving this a listen.

Dinosaur sized fun

Lot's of fun in this one. If you like SyFy type movies, this is for you. Lots of action and no apologies for shooting dinos.

Fun and just the right length

You have to love a book about dinosaurs and bikers. The other reviews are spot on about the flashback and pace of the book. However, I would also recommend this book because it is fun, exciting, and just the right length. Some books have really great stories but drag on in sections that make the book look like an EKG with excitement and downtime. This book was fun but did not keep going and going just to fill in pages. The narrator has a great voice that adds to the story and seems to fit right into the story like it's 100% natural. This could very well be one of those books that gets a very loyal following.

Bikers and dinosaurs and people, Oh my!

I was voluntarily provided this review copy audiobook at no charge by the author, publisher and/or narrator. This book was a lot of fun. At first, you don't have any idea of what's going on, the same as the characters. All any of you know is that there's been some catastrophe and things are going downhill fast. Then Roger and Savannah run into their first dinosaur and things go from bad to worse. This is a very short book, nice for a long car ride but well worth the trip. There's a lot of drama, some good humor and a lot of "wtf is going on?" but I enjoyed all of it. In such a short time you come to care for some of the characters, I even was upset when some didn't make it. Others I was very glad they didn't make it. I want to know what happened, why everything is going the way it is. Granted, Savannah's vision/dream probably does explain it but we don't know for sure. I want to find out what happens after, do the people survive going up against all the dinosaurs? I wish there was another book. The narrator does a great job of bringing the characters alive, making the voices different enough that you don't have too much trouble figuring out who is talking. Overall, a fun quick book well worth a listen.

Back in Time

This is a fast, interesting fantasy with dinosaurs. Roger and Savanna traveling on road when suddenly hit something, a dinosaur. Then comes all of the action, gore and violence involving a small group trying to survive and seems to be taken back into prehistoric time. Good narration. Recommend if you enjoy Sci-fi and horror. Dinosaurs in the Mist

Fun quick listen. This book has a lot of great elements, motorcycle gang, dinosaurs, and the apocalypse. Reminded me of The Mist but with Dinosaurs at gas station instead of a grocery store. Totally had the glorious B movie feel with people holed up in a building waiting out the disaster outside. Since the story is so short you get right to the action and it keeps up the entire time. You meet a few different people but only get a short glimpse of them as they battle the dinosaurs and each other. I think this book was great at this length but could make for a fun full length novel and even a great SYFY channel movie.

Travis Baldree is a fantastic narrator and I enjoyed his narration on this story. His character voices are always spot on and this book wouldn’t have been as fun without him.
