Publisher's summary

He needs to get her out of his system. Just once....

Hank Weller doesn’t help people. He leaves that do-gooder nonsense to his best friend, Beau Winston. Hank does what he wants, when he wants, with whomever he wants—and Hank does not want to hire Charlotte Mitchell to be an exotic dancer at his club, The Pink Pony. Sure, he can’t help noticing the dips and curves of her, how shrewd, smart, and funny she is, the fire in her hazel eyes. He’s always noticed. She’d probably draw a crowd and entice the regulars. But after Charlotte’s messy, public divorce made Hank’s club out to be the culprit—and made her the single mother of four kids—he doesn’t need or want any additional bad press courtesy of Charlotte Mitchell. Or the distraction. Unfortunately for him, the town’s prettiest charity case doesn’t seem to understand the meaning of the words nope, no, and never.

Charlotte Mitchell doesn’t much like Hank Weller. Once upon a time, she used to. Years ago, she liked him a whole heck of a lot despite other folks in town labeling him as “eccentric” and “nonconformist”, which were polite Southern alternatives to “filthy rich” and “self-centered douchebag”. Her opinion of him changed dramatically after he volunteered to be her date to junior prom and then promptly stood her up. They haven’t so much as acknowledged each other in more than a decade. But a sudden family emergency means Charlotte needs access to Hank’s club ASAP. Unfortunately for her, the narcissistic fancy-pants doesn’t seem to understand the meaning of the words help, generosity, and compassion.

But he’s about to find himself schooled. Charlotte is going to teach Hank a lesson once and for all about basic human decency, whether he likes it or not.

Spoiler alert...he likes it.

One of my favorite authors.

I really enjoy Joy Nash and Chris Brinkley. They do such a good job bringing the characters to life.

Another Winner from Green Valley!

Folk Around and Find Out is another great addition to the Green Valley Universe! I’ve loved everything from Penny Reid, and this was no exception. Hank and Charlotte’s journey is such a fun ride…the chemistry is off the charts! As always, Chris Brinkley and Joy Nash bring the very best “southern” to their narration of Reid’s books.

doing the math

I generally re-read 75% of Penny's books. However this is only the 2nd penny book I have re read right after I finished it. Hank and Charlotte are unicorns, but that day....that glorious day of costume corn, stir fry and fractions does me in.....AND pizza and tommy. Everyone should read this book because it's a lesson for communities, self empowerment, tolerance and the value of real communication. Thank you penny for this book. I am eternally grateful.

Incredible performance

I always love an entry into Penny Reid’s Green Valley, and this book was no exception, with reformed bad boy Hank, owner of the Pink Pony. Hank and Hannah’s story was great, a sort of long term crush trope. But the narration really stood out. Joy Nash’s voice for Hannah’s mom was so good I had to listen twice in one spot just to hear it again. And Chris Brinkley was amazing as usual, he does such a great job with accents and voices. It was fun to hear Cletus as a side character again.

Yet another home run

I LOVE the Winston brothers series and the Knitting in the City series before it. This book follows our same band of beloved characters but now it’s Hank’s turn. I love ‘seeing’ old characters again while hearing a new story line. The narration is fantastic; these actors are extremely talented.

Charming Reprobate Redemption Arc

Penny Reid has an incredible gift. The characters of this series are so rich as a whole, and I swim in their stories to hep me middle through the most difficult of days. This time, though, it’s personal. The reprobate redemption arc combined with the humanization of the over-generous angel mom have hooked me in the heart both deeply and heavily. Tears and longing damn it! As a single mom of two fabulously quirky, smart and challenging kids, the idea of someone secretly generous and openly defiant showing up to help rather than just bless-your-hearting from the sidelines started the first fissures. The man finding something fabulous about each child and forging a separate relationship with each has my poor heart in ribbons. Bittersweet to read in such fun and salty detail about something I have never had nor seen a glimpse of in my reality. I think I will have to torture myself with longing and read it over again immediately. If this story exists maybe real people out there might have inspired it and maybe there’s hope after all. Many tears and a chasm of longing. Wow…. and thanks

Best Series Ever

I can’t get enough of Green Valley stories. I love the story continues and connects with the Winston Brothers series. It was nice to hear from several of my favorite characters. I loved Charlotte and Hank love story. I can’t wait for the next book in the series. The narrator is amazing! I laugh so hard at times.
