About this listen

This program is read by the authors.

This is an unusual—and unusually interesting—exploration of diet, weight and health that touches on memoir but lands on practicality. It’s a cut-to-the-chase audiobook that makes you realize that not everything you know about dieting and weight loss—no matter how much you've read or experienced before—is true, and that way too much of your brain, time, and pocketbook has been taken up with the endless (and futile) quest.

The authors’ two distinct voices thread and play off each other throughout the book as they cover these intensively researched topics:

–Metabolism
–Why every diet works...and then doesn’t
–What actually is “healthy” food?
–The (almost) magic pill: exercise
–Detox teas, juice cleanses, supplements, and waist trainers
–The science of fat loss
–Sleep, stress and your waistline
–Disordered eating or eating disorder?
–The history of dieting
–The biggest key to success: a manifesto on body image
–How to make this your last liet
–Becoming a professional BS detector

Food, We Need To Talk is a young woman’s look at the landscape of dieting, weight and health as it is right this moment, from the modern body-inclusivity movement to weight and dressing for social media instead of real life, as well as a very relatable doctor’s long view. Together, they’ve created a unique, information-rich audiobook with a real voice that entertains as it pulls you through.

This most useful wellness book I’ve read

With humor, this book breaks down the ideas that “bodies are complicated.” Anyone who has ever felt confused or duped by health advice will feel validated by this book. The authors take us through the perfect amount of research, synthesizing the findings and contextualizing them so that they make sense! I left more curious about my health, which is empowering! It’s really fun to listen to, too!

Life-changing, Informative, and Fun to Listen to!

Juna and Eddie’s voices brought so much to the reading, making themselves vulnerable in sharing their personal experiences. The information is fantabulous and the humor ridonculous…seriously, this book clarifies so much about our bodies and offers a healthy perspective on accepting who we are, the way we are made, while giving vital information about the science behind it all. I want to go back and listen to certain parts, all over again! Thank you, Juna and Eddie, for this book. HIGHLY RECOMMEND!!!

Redundant

Why is the original info repeated so much? I was interested to get into the meat of this topic but they spent so long explaining themselves it was so disappointing and frustrating.
