Publisher's summary

From the New York Times best-selling author of All the Missing Girls and The Perfect Stranger comes a suspenseful psychological mystery about one girl's search to uncover the truth behind her ex-boyfriend's death. Perfect for fans of We Were Liars and 13 Reasons Why.

Jessa Whitworth knew she didn't belong in her ex-boyfriend Caleb's room. But she couldn't deny that she was everywhere - in his photos, his neatly folded T-shirts, even the butterfly necklace in his jeans pocket...the one she gave him for safekeeping on that day.

His mother asked her to pack up his things - even though she blames Jessa for his accident. How could she say no? And maybe, just maybe, it will help her work through the guilt she feels about their final moments together.

But as Jessa begins to box up the pieces of Caleb's life, they trigger memories that make Jessa realize their past relationship may not be exactly as she remembered. And she starts to question whether she really knew Caleb at all.

Each fragment of his life reveals a new clue that propels Jessa to search for the truth about Caleb's accident. What really happened on the storm-swept bridge?

Twists kept me guessing

I like that this story kept me guessing (mostly incorrectly) until closer to the end. It dragged a little at times when I felt it could have moved faster without taking anything away.

5 stars hands down all the way!

Megan Miranda did it again! She is a beast! Have read two other books of hers and they a true page turners! This is the first one I have “read” on audio and Erin Spencer did a great job! She made sure you could tell who was talking! Great job ladies! Megan you amazing! I can’t wait until June for your new Adult Book! Hoping on a meet and greet!

Solid listen

This story was a little bit longer than it needed to be, but overall I found it interesting. The story has a few little twists (some predictable). I thought the performance was pretty good. I’d like to check out this author further.

Started off slow but good

The beginning was sad, empty, seemed pointless almost but then the mystery and plot unravels and it draws you in, leaving you scrambling to find the truth. Two thumbs up.

Slow beginning

Almost stopped listening, thought it was going to be too sad and then it became a mystery! It did take too long to get to the story, but once it did, couldn’t stop the story.

So well written & narrated! Didn't want it to end!

I can’t believe there are only a few hundred reviews for Fragments of the Lost. I read Megan Miranda’s The Safest Lies (2017) and Come Find Me (2019) and I was hooked on her style, character development, and original, engaging plots. This would be a perfect read for a young adult, but I am 50 something and absolutely loved it.

Every detail as Jessa goes through Caleb’s room triggers a memory, and every one of those memories is relevant to solving the mystery of what happened to Caleb and why. The author leaves no stone unturned, and the sequence of events is perfect to allow the reader to gradually unravel the mystery.

The character development was extremely well done. Conversations are so natural and made me fall in love with the characters. I cared what happened to them, not just the main character Jessa, but supporting characters as well. In audiobooks, the narrator is critical to the character development and Erin Spencer is excellent, smoothly and naturally transitioning between voices no matter what the age or gender of the character. Spencer helped me create a visual image of the interesting characters the author had created, and that enhanced the action and events of the novel.

In the beginning the story is somewhat grim, a little eerie. The listener knows from the beginning that Caleb is gone, officially declared dead. In the first few chapters, I could not see how there would be a turning point, a twist that would create a more positive hopeful, or at least satisfying ending. BUT, trust the author as you read the first half of the book, be patient because it just keeps getting better. All the little things are relevant, not just filler, a puzzle that had many pieces and every single one of them come together in the end. Jessa is a strong and determine character, which created good closure and a very satisfying end.

I choose my books by reading honest reviews, therefore, I write honest reviews.

I really enjoyed this book.

I don't normally enjoy books that take you back in time throughout the book. Often I think it confuses the present and past however the author did a great job and kept me in suspense.

Unexpected storyline

Initially, this story seemed to be pretty predictable. As I continued on, it became less obvious where the story was headed. There were many plot twists to keep your attention.
