About this listen

A Reese Witherspoon x Hello Sunshine Book Club Pick and New York Times best seller

"Once again, Megan Miranda has crafted the perfect summer thriller." (Riley Sager, New York Times best-selling author of The Last Time I Lied)

The summer after a wealthy young summer guest dies under suspicious circumstances, her best friend lives under a cloud of grief and suspicion in this "clever, stylish mystery that will seize readers like a riptide" (Publishers Weekly, starred review) featuring "dizzying plot twists and multiple surprise endings" (The New York Times Book Review).

Littleport, Maine, has always felt like two separate towns: an ideal vacation enclave for the wealthy, whose summer homes line the coastline, and a simple harbor community for the year-round residents whose livelihoods rely on service to the visitors.

Typically, fierce friendships never develop between a local and a summer girl - but that’s just what happens with visitor Avery Greer and Littleport resident Sadie Loman. Each summer for almost a decade, the girls are inseparable - until Sadie is found dead. While the police rule the death a suicide, Avery can’t help but feel there are those in the community, including a local detective and Sadie’s brother, Parker, who blame her. Someone knows more than they’re saying, and Avery is intent on clearing her name before the facts get twisted against her.

Another thrilling novel from the best-selling author of All the Missing Girls and The Perfect Stranger, Megan Miranda’s The Last House Guest is a smart, twisty listen with a strong female protagonist determined to make her own way in the world.

"A riveting read...from master of suspense, Megan Miranda," (Mary Kubica, New York Times best-selling author of The Good Girl) The Last House Guest is a smart, twisty listen that brilliantly explores the elusive nature of memory and the complexities of female friendships.

I loved The Last House Guest! At first I thought the writer was pulling a Gone Girl type twist but was totally blown away by the ending.

Great book with many twists and turns

The whole novel was really well thought out and made sense. No crazy or unbelievable endings. A little long to listen here and there but overall very enjoyable audible!

Good Book!

Overall I really enjoyed this book. Just when I thought I had figured it out, the story took a turn, which left me wanting more. My only complaint is that I couldn’t stand how the narrator said her “ing” words. For example, instead of “watching” it sounded like “watch-een”. Once I picked up on it, I was bothered throughout the entire book when I heard it.

Great story

Loved the author’s other novel. Downloaded this one immediately. Hated the narrator. Keeps making off, overly dramatic pauses in the middle of sentences, her voice going up for no reason. I almost couldn’t finish it. The story did not seem as good as The Perfect Stranger but don’t know if it was because of the narrator.

Narration hard to take

I wanted to like this book, but saw the end coming a mile away and not sure, but the narrator was awful. No inflection, just very monotone that I kept drifting away from the story.

Meh

spin on spin. hard to turn off/stop reading. the narrator should not act out the parts tho.

good mystery, fun read. not safe for audible

Cadence of reader was so repetitive, I couldn’t listen anymore. Didn’t finish. Had to return it.

Sing song narration

Much too long- too choppy, going back and forth. To convoluted-could have arrived at discoveries sooner. Nothing in the hours spent with the character of Avery gives any indication that she had the wherewithal to be the LLC, which became an 11th hour inclusion.

Narration was spectacular! Hope she keeps narrating all her books:)
Story was her best so far.

I an not a fan of this narrator, it almost sounded like it was all a big run on sentence. The story is very slow moving until about the last 10 chapters. Its alright, I'm not mad i read it, but not sure I'd highly recommend it.

It's just ok until about the last 10 chapters
