About this listen

Every disaster brings an opportunity.

Goth Sullus and his empire have fallen.

With the Legion and the rest of the galaxy watching from the still-smoldering galactic core, Carter, a former legionnaire turned private contractor, and Jack Bowie, a Navy spy with nowhere left to turn, sign up to work for an enterprising private contractor looking to make a statement on the planet Kublar.

Plans are in motion dating back to the Savage Wars, and as the galaxy rushes to fill in the vacuum created by the fall of the Imperial Republic, the bodies are hitting the floor.

But every plan has a reckoning…

Takeover is the thrilling aftermath of the final, desperate execution of Article Nineteen and the looming rebirth of the Legion and the galaxy itself as Galaxy’s Edge: Season Two begins!

An excellent start to Season 2 of Galaxy's Edge

Takeover is set in the aftermath of the death of Goth Sullus and the Republic. The stories of Carter, a former Legionnaire, and Bowie, a former spy, intertwine as their new employer tries to wrest control of Kublar from what’s left of Republic forces.

Carter’s story is pure military fiction. Raids, battles, and gunfights burn through his tale. Any reader who enjoys run-and-gun fiction will get their money’s worth just from Carter.

The plot of Bowie’s exploits is more understated, but just as riveting. This is pure cloak-and-dagger storytelling, and it’s done masterfully. There’s a lot of action here, but it’s short and violent when compared to Carter’s firehose of non-stop combat.

Both stories are done by masters of the art. The plots flow beautifully, and I found myself glued to Takeover as Ray Porter read it to me. His narration was spot on, changing tone and cadence when switching between the two plot lines.

If you’ve enjoyed the first season of Galaxy’s Edge, you’ll love Takeover’s introduction to Season Two.

Give me more

This book went by way to quickly in my opinion. I wish it would not end. Ray Porter does a fantastic job of bringing these characters to life with his voice. I'm excited for the next book!

great story

I love the universe you guys are creating. can please combine books? it's a little confusing which book is to which sub-series. also, kinda hurts to spend a credit on books that are averaging 9 hours or less

Weird wording but great read

Porter says a few words different and it was weird not catching on. Completely blew by me when he referred to Chunn

A great beginning to a new chapter in the galaxy

I wanna start this by saying that if you're a fan of galaxys edge you'll be a fan of this book no 2 ways about it the stories what I've come to expect with this series. I would like to add that there are some points that get a bit confusing there are a lot of moving parts not only the multiple character perspectives in the book but both past present and completely unknown factions that have stakes In the bigger picture at large Like real war anybody can go and I truly appreciate that about the book There are no favorites I will say however that I found the narrator a bit jarring I get that they were going for a retired military veteran but he just came off as blase A bit like he didn't wanna be there in the 1st place to which I can understand why the main character kind of fits that persona But after the 1st 2 hours it became almost kind of tedious to listen to him drag on the story.

My Favorite Book Series Keeps Going

I listen to a lot of books but this series seems to have the perfect blend of interesting and realistic characters, interesting storylines, and a great flow. For example there is a point in this book where one spy is telling another the "hypothetical" history odd their employer. It was done in such a way that I was hanging in every word. Wow! Most books give these long history narratives that make my eyes gloss over but these authors have mastered storytelling and the narrator did an amazing job carrying it out. I'm ready for the next book now but I guess I'll just get the next Tyrus Rechs book. Those are awesome too.

Time for the next one!

You guys have done it again! It's amazing how you intertwine so many stories into one! Ray Porter did an excellent job, as I knew he would, but I would both chuckle and cringe every time he said Cha-hoon!

Can’t get enough!

Anspach and Cole have written a phenomenal series and they can’t put out material quick enough for me. My only complaint is that they didn’t have R.C. Bray narrate this book like the authors had promised he would for all the main Galaxy’s Edge books.

Seriously guys, how are you going to get R.C. Bray to narrate Tin Man but not Takeover?!?!?! I’m a huge fan and it’s extremely upsetting to have a new voice in the mix and they all sound the same.

Do it right and continue using R.C. Bray for all your work or don’t bother having it in audiobook format at all!!

An important storyline after the Fall of the Repub

This book sets up the Koob universe after the end of book 5. It will introduce you to relevant new characters in the universe, and a key player.

The reader is different than the previous books. It is not as intense as the other books, however, it fits. The reader brings you in to the confusion, frustration, and dystopic world as the Republic has fallen, Repub hold outs are trying to gain control, and ex legionnaires are now hired mercenaries trying to make sense of it.

The Koob world is chaos, and that can be felt by the reader, the frustration and apathy in the delivery. It has a very different feel than the other books, but it is establishing the next paradigm in the series. The end is especially good, leaving so many unanswered questions.

Definitely worth getting into, because when the next book starts, you will know what is going on.
