About this listen

Georgiana Darcy made a foolish mistake. One that would have deadly consequences. Believing herself in love with George Wickham, she leaves Ramsgate with him, to make the journey to Gretna Green to elope. During the trip, Georgiana learns the truth of why Wickham wished to marry her, for her fortune. The young lady was able to escape from Wickham, and ends up in the post coach which happens to stop in Meryton. The stop in Meryton is one that will change the lives of all they know and love.

Elizabeth Bennet has been given an ultimatum, marry the heir of her father's estate or leave her family forever. Unwilling to spend the rest of her life with the disgusting toady, she packs her belongings and boards the post coach for London. Along the way, she becomes friends with Georgiana Darcy, and the younger lady confided in Elizabeth. Their trip to London becomes delayed, as Wickham finds them and attempts to take Georgiana from the carriage.

Come on the adventure which is filled with twists and turns.

The book was delightful though a little different, by that I mean the language and colloquialism used throughout the text. I’m not sure if maintaining the setting of the time was important but the use of such things did take away from the storyline a little. The virtual voice however is the biggest distraction. There’s no passion no alteration regarding rise and fall which would normally show concern, fear, anger or happiness when read by a person.

Loved the twists and turns in the story.

Not overly fond of AI voice though a British accent seems to work better than American. There are words they just can’t get right because the context is extremely relevant to how the word is pronounced. Though, pronouncing Modiste as Modest every time the word was used (and it was used a lot) was just silly.

The story itself was drawn out and kind of disjointed for me. Too many villains and they were all too far over the top and came off kind of crazed. The Darcy and Elizabeth romance was non existent and Darcy seemed to fall for her while she was practically comatose after saving Georgianna and being hurt by Wickham. The Jane storyline was waaay too far fetched for me to believe. And as for the epilogue - OMG - I think it ended up three sets of twins and some singles??? UGH.

I gave it a chance

I like Lizzy as heroine. While somewhat predictable, sometimes I just want a low angsty audible & this was a good story without too much stress for the reader. I enjoyed it even with virtual narration. I gave it a 5 because depending on what you’re looking for, it can be exactly what you want. I’m a little surprised at the 3.6 rating. It’s low, in my opinion.

Enjoyable JAFF!

I truly enjoyed this book. I listened nonstop until the satisfying end. I liked the fact that the author made sure all the bad actors were suitably punished for their actions. The friendship between Georgianna and Elizabeth was fun and I am glad that Elizabeth and Darcy liked each other from the beginning. I enjoyed the Matlock family and the Gardners. The Bennetts were disgusting but were not really heard from directly - Elizabeth left them at the very beginning of the book but the book revealed their actions. Jane was surprising. George Bingley was not the great guy he usually is. Wickham is disposed of early on when he stops a post carriage and attacks Georgianna and Elizabeth.

I have listened to many other Melanie Schertz books and I believe this is the best one so far. Well done Ms. Schertz! This book would have been even more outstanding if it had been read by someone like Stevie Zimmerman. The virtual voice was not horrible, but many many words were mispronounced and it was sometimes hard to discern which character was speaking since virtual voice does not change voices when the speaker changes. But that did not really turn me off too much because the book was so well written, and SO good. I am glad I chose Georgianna's Savior.

Excellent

The narration is so bad I found myself counting the syllables between pauses. Totally flat, no emotion, really awful. Next time, pay a human narrator.

Good story, terrible narration

The moral of this story is basically anyone who goes against Elizabeth and Darcy dies.

Imaginative but believe twist to the story. It maintains the surface of the original story with a new depth to several of the main characters.

Beauty out of Betrayal

I refuse to give any other Virtual Voice books a chance in the future. I’m done with them!! I have 17 of them and the performances are horrible, they make it difficult to follow which character is now speaking and absolutely no inflection whatsoever. I cannot understand why an author would put so much time, effort and thought into pouring their heart into writing a book only to ruin it by cheaping it out by using VV for its delivery.

I couldn’t have said it any better than that of reviewer “Midge”, she expressed my sentiments of this book exactly.
I rarely write a negative review but as previously stated “enough!” Many of my favorite authors are now using VV for their books, I won’t be purchasing those anymore either. Authors please take
note…

ENOUGH!!

If you’re a author the worst thing you can do is allow virtual voice! This book might’ve had some merit but with AI forget it. I’d rather listen to the same P&P variations repeatedly narrated by Stevie Zimmerman than listen to one by any other narrator.

Get rid of AI

The first 5-8 chapters were fine, but the ending was too overdramtic, almost impossible to finish.

What a bunch of overdrama!
