About this listen

Life's tough as an Elf girl stranded in Earth's realm.

When a jaguar shifter drops in out of nowhere and asks for help in tracking down an ancient blood-magic statuette, I say no thank you. I learned a long time ago the key to survival is keeping a low profile. But it's hard to ignore an artifact of the gods powerful enough to blow holes in reality.

Enter stalker werewolves in a black Mercedes and magicians trying to capture me. They all think I know where the damned statue is. Then I'm attacked by demons.

It wouldn't be so bad, but some of them are really rude. Being rude is a capital crime where I come from.

Time for a lesson in manners.

Contains mature themes.

Amazing narration! Ok story

The narration was amazing! Female only narrator, but her accents were awesome.
The story itself started off really strong, and then got weaker as it drew on. I found myself paying less and less attention as I was listening.

A fun paranormal action mystery.

I did like the nod to Kim Harrison's splat gun. This is more action and adventure than romance. Enjoyable overall!

Absolutely excellent!

An extremely enjoyable listen with wonderful and immersive voice acting and a fairly unique perspective on modern fantasy. I thoroughly enjoyed this book and look forward to listening to the next in the series!

Give me more Elves!

This was a complete surprise to me. I picked this up, with a few others on a day when I needed something new and I think the cover is what got my attention. I don't recall ever hearing anything about this book or author. The last few days, I was in a slump of trying new series by new to me authors and one not new to me, and was completely disappointed and put them down. I started Gods and Demons yesterday afternoon, with no idea what I was getting into. I was completely pulled into the story. I love Kellana! This is exactly the kind of character I wanted to read about. She's smart, witty, and confident, with out being full of herself. I really look forward to more of Kellana and the other characters. I really liked how the story progressed and how it wrapped up. I had one problem with the story. I had a hard time keeping track of all the names, but that was me and I was listening. The Audio was great. I really liked the flow and pace of the narrator. Rachel Dulude did a good job keeping me interested and I liked the accent of Kellana. One minor flaw in the Audio, not the narration. Chapter 27 02:28 with 23 mins left in the story some weird noise happens and I had my headphones in and WOW that hurt. It lasted maybe a minute or so, so not much info was lost. I was hoping it was something with my download on my Ipod but I downloaded it onto my android phone and checked. The really loud noise is still there in the same spots. So other then that Please check this out. I will be getting then next in the series Dragon's Egg!

confused

The narrator reads in an Irish accent for the mc, but the mc says she spoke German with an Elven accent and I swore she said she spoke English in a German accent. Did I mix this up? I liked her performance and the story was good, it took me too long to reflect on that comment to find it again.

Enjoyable DMV fantasy listen

I really appreciated the knowledge of the DMV area and world-building throughout the story. I liked the “save the day” vibes by a couple of down-to-earth bad*ss chicks. I’m intrigued to see the character development in the next books and how the interpersonal relationships will grow.

Strong Female Leads

Never heard of the author. Book was on the recommended list, I listened to the preview...I was intrigued, so I downloaded.

I enjoyed every bit of it. It was surprisingly unapologetic about creating a world view where females are as nature designed - strong, hunters, protectors & nurturers.

Honestly, it was a bit primal. Nothing at all silly and immature. The tone is practical...no nonsense. Adult.

There is violence and adult themes, but nothing over-the-top or intolerable.

There is the "whiff" of attraction and appreciation of a male side character. But the story is not centered around a male. (gasp). Instead of shallow relationships, every character 'holds their own,' and work in collaboration.

Epic.

I've just purchased the sequel.

** I personally LOVE the Irish accent. I wish the narrator could do Spanish accent and a cool sounding accent for "Elvish" but she's only human after all!! 😂
