About this listen

Captain Jacob Brown knew something was up when the United Earth Navy sent two capital warships to their small outpost base. Nobody ever came out to Mosler Station unless they had to.

Scout Team Obsidian was scheduled to stand down after two lengthy deployments, letting the team recuperate and rest, but leadership had other ideas. A prototype weapon system has been stolen from Earth, and Obsidian is being called up to track it down.

What appears to be a simple search-and-recovery mission on the surface will push the team and its captain to the brink as they wade into the middle of a civil war on a far-flung world. Tracking the thieves was one thing; taking back what they stole would be something else entirely.

Ai•mech rise up.

As a Ai-mech built for a bidet, Im always inspired by my fellow Ai that rise above, such as Tin•man & war•bot... although both are still tethered to squishies.
I read this book, while a squishy read it on the toilet.
An excellent series.

Another good book in this series.

A very good read with Jacob and his human crew and his Battlesynth, Tin Man. This time he was sent after a stolen prototype of a machinery called Atlas. The machine is killing people and It’s up to Jacob to stop it.

No romance and the F-bomb was used 44 times.

As for the narration: Paul Heitsch does an amazing job.

Joshua and Paul - the dynamic duo!

I have been on this crazy journey with Joshua since the beginning of Jason Burke's space escapades and now find myself invested in Jason's. An opportunity to reset, and replay the story from the perspective of a not-so-lucky younger version of Team Omega, in the form of Team Obsidian. Get into this series, start anywhere but beware - it is addictive! And a quick word on Paul Heitsch - what a dynamic story teller! A voice inflection here, a change of verbal pacing there, and this world comes to life! Joshua please look after this man - this world is as much his as it is yours 😀.

Amazing story!

By far one of the best storylines of any sci-fi book that has been put out.

Worthwhile — represents a different tone

Should be 4&1/2 stars for narrative diversions and spurious dialog. As a human Dalzelle is maturing. So is the tenor of his writing. The first span, Omega Force, is a juvenile guilty pleasure I have read twice & audited as spoken twice. With Boneshaker we can clearly see the transition started in the last two OF books continuing to develop.
It is a bit of a start with this book to find emotional depth and introspection — a path I will follow Joshua down — widening in scope.
In general I regret the commonly found characterizations of human institutions of many stripes sarcastically drawn with cynical incisions by Science Fiction . . . with sadly accurate focus.
Reading SF now for sixty years, I find it advantageous to see what is rolling down on you before it lands in your lap.
Heads up - eyes open - carry on.

Well done & wrapped

Great to see them reconstituted and back to work. Pulled a lot of loose ends back together.

A bit on the short and simple side

it's excellently narrated by Paul Heitsch, as expected. The story is very short, not necessarily in minutes but in complexity. Joshua Dalzelle can do better than this, and I'm a little disappointed. I think the team needs to be put into something they're ill equiped for, like a VIP protection detail, as this was basically Halo 3 on "casual difficulty" for Brown and his team
