About this listen

Heritage is the debut novel from S.M. Warlow and the first installment of the Tales of the Phoenix Titan series. This best-selling space opera is perfect for fans of Firefly, The Expanse, Star Wars, and Mass Effect.

Make them proud, son of Earth.

Twenty-five years after the fall of Earth, the Commonwealth is locked in a vicious, galaxy-spanning war against the Revenant. Countless worlds have been lost in the fighting, and now one crew must come together and stand in the way of galactic annihilation.

Nathan Carter is an efficient criminal, but when he's hired to steal supplies from a Commonwealth warship, what starts as an easy job soon transforms into something that could change the course of history. Now, Nathan must work with a group of unlikely allies to protect a woman whose heritage is the key to everything.

The premise is good. The story may be really compelling however, I really had trouble getting into the narration. I prefer having an exciting story told to me, for me to sink into. This is not that, the narrator is only reading words off the page. Even during really exciting moments the narrator stays flat. The narrator has a great voice but if he isn't excited about the story, I don't why I should be.

Unemotional Performance

The story arc of this novel was great, and had a flair of Firefly, one of my favorite TV shows (RIP). The performance was really good and I think the narrator will be one to keep track of.

As an author, I have particular hangups about the writing style. I won’t mention them here in case my writing biases influence your reading pleasure. If you listen to the five minute sample, you’ll know if you like the style.

It’s well worth a listen.

A Great Debut SciFi Novel

This is by far one of the best Scifi stories I've read in a long time. I could easily see this as a movie. I'm looking forward to the sequel.

I Loved This Story

Book- didn’t catch my interest until about 10 chapters. I would watch the show if they made one. Some stuff is a little clique but worth a try.
Thst narrator could use some help. Starting about chapter 27, I could hear some back ground noises in the recording. The accents were good but the tone and pitch at which was being read felt off. I did it at 1.2 but couldn’t go any faster or slower. I’ve already downloaded the sequel.

Pretty good. Read below

A must read if you're a Firefly fan! I loved every bit of the book, from start to finish. there are a few words that are reused throughout, but that doesn't bug me. I enjoyed how that ending wasn't what I expected.
I enjoyed the effort from the narrator for each character he acted out. the tiniest thing that bugged me was there were slight background sounds; like birds chirping it sounded like, or people moving about in the background.

Fantastic Book!

The character development is crap. The story is full of mistakes. The reader is my monotone math teacher from college. Don't wast a credit.

Absolutely Horrible
