About this listen

The widow is a cop. Forget the law, she wants revenge.

Detective Inspector Stella Cole was a rising star in London’s Metropolitan Police. Then a hit-and-run driver killed her husband, Richard, a human rights lawyer. Grief drove her to booze and pills. Back at work after a year’s compassionate leave, Stella secretly re-investigates his death and begins to suspect a cover-up. Freelance journalist Vicky Riley was working with Richard to expose corruption buried deep inside the legal system. Unaware that powerful people are out to stop her, she contacts Stella.

Vicky’s research confirms Stella’s worst fears. The people who should be upholding the law are turning it on its head.

Stella thinks she’s closing in on the truth. Then a horrific discovery threatens her very sanity. What began as a search for justice is now a raging thirst for revenge.

WOW!!!! POWERFUL EMOTIONS!!!

I can truly say that this story is as powerful as any that I've read or listened to in many years. As a Mother, I could probably follow in this character's footsteps! Andy Maslen, this is a first of your novels for me but it certainly won't be the last. What a talented author! Helen Moore did an extraordinary job in bringing these characters to life. Excellent job by the Andy Maslen/Helen E. Moore duo!

Boring & Annoying

Story was boring, no real surprises at all, waste of time. And the narrator is annoying to listen to. I regret purchasing this one.

Just soooo bad

My first and last by this author. I listened to the whole thing but believe me I wanted to stop multiple times. The main character is insane—with cause —but nevertheless insane. She has no redeeming qualities. She is out for revenge but is a total jerk to all. She sleeps with a married man to get the guns she wants , she is hateful to all around to those who try to help, she lies, and believes she is justified doing anything to get what she wants, including poisoning a co worker.
The narrator has a pleasant enough voice but believe mr the melodramatic sounds are anything but pleasant. They include , sighs , sucking through teeth , groans, long parts of whispering, weird echos of passages , and the worse—some sort of voice altering mechanism to make her sound like a man.
Unfortunately most of this started after I got interested in the story because it takes awhile before the reader realizes just how whacko this chick is.
Probably the worst book I have ever finished.
Sorry but this is my take. Heading for a refund
