Isla Tansy Mortenson Wallace was a noted local neurosurgeon, wife of local veterinarian Jim Wallace, and one of Chattanooga’s movers and shakers. That is until she was found dead on her own property.

Harry Starke is out of retirement, back on the job, and his long-time friend, Jim Wallace, is in big trouble. The evidence against him is overwhelming. To keep Jim from facing death row, Harry must find answers to all of those questions and, as usual, there is a twist in the tale.

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

Harry is big touch, smart, yet still an emotional human being. Tough guy with a real heart. Each is stand alone, but I do recommend reading in order. All are good, and all are unique plots, Don't know how Howard comes up with such variety.

Who was your favorite character and why?

Well has to be Harry.

Which character – as performed by Tom Lennon – was your favorite?

Harry. After 12 books I can't imagine a different voice at this point.

This is as good a modern detective series as is out there. Love to see a movie.

I loved catching up with Harry. He is quite entertaining. And I love the narrator.

Isla a prominent Dr. news saying she died from a fall off her horse. Harry was a close friend of her husband. Curiosity he goes to the autopsy, Lt.Kate is there, and wondering, why he is, then he knows, the husband is a suspect. Jim was a pussycat, he appreciated life, a vet. Harry, tired of being semi retired and a pencil pusher, trying to write a book. Wants to
dig into the case, something wasn’t right, and it was bugging him. Kate, is like a pit bull, and doesn’t want Harry anywhere near the case. The lawyer Harry recommended think’s Jim is guilty, also. Interviewing the husband, opens another whole scenario, which surprises Harry. They can find plenty of players, but no evidence. This was a great plot, the characters are all there, like a chess game, but who is going to win. The outcome is surprising, Harry is stunned. He did a fabulous job with this story. I like the Harry Starke audible books and the narrator is awesome. The characters are fun and dedicated to their friends and jobs.
When Harry finds out one of his best friends, Jim is being arrested for the murder of his wife, Ila. Harry is convinced Jim could not have done it.
All the evidence points to Jim, but Harry believes he is being set up. Is he or did he do it?? Hmmm.

Hoodwinked is a murder mystery with lots of twists and turns in which detective Harry Starke tries to prove a friend is innocent of killing his cheating wife. Some of the plot defies believability a bit, but overall a good story.

Contains sexual situations, sexual crimes, and mild sex scenes. Recommended for adult readers who are not easily offended.

The narrator, who does all the Harry Starke books, is well suited to the story and does a nice job bringing it to life.
