Publisher's summary

Once upon a time there was a boy with a wicked tongue...

Before Cardan was a cruel prince or a wicked king, he was a faerie child with a heart of stone. In this sumptuously illustrated tale, Holly Black reveals a deeper look into the dramatic life of Elfhame's enigmatic high king. This tale includes delicious details of life before The Cruel Prince, an adventure beyond The Queen of Nothing, and familiar but pivotal moments from The Folk of the Air trilogy, told wholly from Cardan's perspective.

This new instalment in the Folk of the Air series is a return to the heart-racing romance, danger, humour and drama that enchanted readers everywhere.

A lovely tale

The story of Beloved King Cardan is lovely and sad as the character himself. Love to hear little more about Cardan’s adventures and childhood, also, see inside his mind and a bit more about Jude and Cardan relationship.

I want more

The only thing that would have improved this book would have been more of it! I love Holly Black and in particular this series . I can’t wait to read more!

Who doesn’t like a handsome villain?

A sip of magic-infused stories to quench the never-ending thirst for Cardan’s POV

disappointed

iam obsessed with jude and cardan and the cruel prince trioligy the told stories are just sooo small soo small and some are dull that I really donot care about i wished Holly focused on more significant points in the triology jude and cardan moments barely exist ok the illustrations are beautiful but I expected waaaay more waaay more so the only thing that made these 2 hours and 48 minutes bearable is the narrator who deserves an Oscar for the whole performance through out the series so thank you caitlin u r the best of the best .......
