Publisher's summary

Experience the blessings of an imperfect marriage. We all - at one time or another - have opportunities to act right when our spouses act wrong. There are no perfect marriages or perfect spouses. We know that having a good marriage requires effort and hard work. Yet we often don't know how to continue to love when we are angry, hurt, scared, or just plain irritated. Nor are we sure what that kind of love is supposed to look like.

Should we be patient? Forgive and forget? Do something else entirely?

Acting right when your spouse acts wrong will not necessarily guarantee a more satisfying marital relationship, nor will it automatically make your spouse change his or her ways - although both could occur. It will, however, help you see how God is stretching you in the midst of your marital difficulties, teach you to respond wisely when wronged, and lead you into a deeper relationship with Christ as you yield your will to his plan for your life and learn to be more like him.

Extremely helpful for my mindset

This audio book is amazing. Perfect for anyone married—-going through struggles, rough patch or ongoing issues that make you want to choke your spouse. Sorry—-not really, but you get my point.

Christian based—-powerful direction that restores and reminds me of how God is the one in control and able to help me act right when my spouse os acting wrong. Thank you so much for this audio book 🙏🏽♥️

Own your own work

I read this book a couple years ago. It was helpful, but didn’t fully apply because my H was deep into addictions and abusive in many areas. Today I listened to the audio version. I listened to gain insight on what God expects from ME in all my relationships. This book is full of practical examples, biblical truths and very applicable. Leslie Vernick is a godsend!! I love and appreciate her work.

This book exposed all the enemy's tricks!

This book really helped me to see my part and how I am contributing to many of the misunderstandings. I thank God for putting this book in my path. I also love love love the fact that all the advice was backed up with scripture from God!

good introduction

this is a good introduction. it can be a bit simplistic at times, in my opinion, but it directs the reader to recognize some common misconceptions of marriage.

Great for ALL who read.

It’s not about what your spouse is doing wrong..... It’s about how you act and react through it all. Biblical teaching is spot on. Great examples given.

If your married get this book now.

I have been through a lot in my marriage but never sought counseling. I feel that this book has given me the counseling I didn't even know I needed. I have even found out that some of my actions I thought were humble were actually self-centered. I purchased the book and will be listening to this over and over. Thank you Mrs. Vernick for this book it has saved my marriage and is helping me become the wife God wants me to be for my husband. Please get this if your married or thinking about getting married.

Challenging....

You pick up this book bc you want to respond better in negative situations only to find your responses are just as sinful as what you were dealt... to love like Christ with the intention for the good of others means forgiving, forbearing, correcting, and especially examining yourself so as to be gracious to others... the concept in this book can extend past marriage and into raising children or dealing with our neighbors... I especially was touched by the sweet written prayers at the end of each chapter calling us to humble ourselves before God and cast our cares on Him for He cares for us. 1 Peter 5:6-7

Enlightenment for Christians trying to understand

life by itself is not a easy task. to include another person and their intricate ways, habits, likes, dislikes, needs and sin can bring a loved to depression because of not understanding them. their sins are too hard to accept and too hard to understand. This book HELPS the ones who are willing to learn, educate, empower with conviction and God's words! The selfishness we all have and learning to be LESS selfish and consider others. This book is a guide to HELP people like me. Help me WANT to be better, not for my husb6but for HOD. OurORD and our Saviour!!!! This book will have to be read more than once. too much in just on read through to grasp! Loved this book. Thank you for helping me with my sins, helping me understand how to deal with others. not just my husband.
