When Mr. Black goes missing, Melody is left in charge of the New York Guild and burdened with the task of bringing her father home.
She's also been offered a place in Hell.
The decision should be a no brainer. Once a hunter, always a hunter. But with secrets unfolding and lives on the line, there's nothing easy about deciding between Hell and Home.
Contains mature themes.

Let’s start with the basics: I picked up Demon Hunters Guild: Hunting Light thinking I was diving into a fast-paced paranormal fantasy. You know—some badass demon hunters, dramatic tension, ancient prophecies, maybe a forbidden romance or two. And to be fair… all of that was technically there. Sort of. Somewhere.
The main character (whose name I kept forgetting because she was either being called “Lightbearer,” “Seer,” or like five other vague titles) starts off in some dark forest (or maybe a city? hard to tell), fighting something that might’ve been a demon… or a corrupted angel? Then a guy with silver eyes shows up (hot, mysterious, dangerous—you know the type), and now she’s apparently part of a secret society with a library full of glowing books and a dragon skeleton in the basement?? I was INTO it. For about three chapters. Then it all sort of melted into an oozy soup of cryptic conversations and mood swings.
Half the time I wasn’t sure if characters were flirting or trying to murder each other. And don’t get me started on the guild politics—I feel like I missed an entire prequel explaining the rules, because people kept throwing around terms like “The Binding” and “The Reckoning” like I should just know what that means. I did not.
The writing itself? Beautiful in places. Very dramatic. Lots of shadows and smirks and glowing runes. But also a LOT of brooding. So. Much. Brooding. Everyone was brooding or bleeding or breaking into ancient vaults for reasons I only half understood.
Was I entertained? Honestly, yes.
Was I confused for 80% of it? Also yes.
Will I read the next one? …Maybe. I think I have to, just to figure out what the heck was actually going on.
