Publisher's summary
Hygge and Lagom, your personal prescription for happiness and balance in an unhappy and out of control world!
If you are feeling as though you’ve lost your way recently, you’re not alone. Many of us feel disconnected from the world we live in.
It’s no wonder, given just how fast the world moves these days. Technology brings so many benefits, but it comes at a steep cost. Our happiness.
Many of us are left feeling alone, disillusioned, and unhappy. These feelings make us withdraw from family, friends, and even the society to which we belong.
Join the happiest people on Earth…
Hygge and Lagom are two Scandinavian principles that are catching on in the rest of the world. For a long time, these countries have topped the charts in the world’s “happiness index.”
What makes them so different and what are these two special principles?
This book is actually TWO books in One.
You get a full discussion on both, including 21-day challenges to help you adopt these principles.
Either book stands their own, but the real synergy takes place when you embrace both. This will give you a feeling of lasting happiness and contentment. One that you can practice for a lifetime and join those Scandinavians as some of the happiest and most fulfilled people on the planet.
You’ll learn how practicing Hygge and Lagom can give you practical advice on how to:
- Furnish your home so you are left feeling tranquil and peaceful. Turning your home into a place of refuge from the modern world.
- Embrace nature to feel a connection to the natural world.
- Improve your attitude about work and end work-place frustration.
- Get that feeling of work-life balance that so many of us lack.
- Practice the “Do’s and Don’ts” that are the keys to successful relationships.
- Survive the holidays that so many of us find stressful and overwhelming.
- Integrate nature’s seasons into your own life and mirror them to feel centered and balanced.
Reconnect with yourself, find your happiness, and achieve balance today.

Story
As high achievers, we’ve been conditioned to believe that the path to success is paved with relentless work. That if we want to overachieve, we have to overexert, overthink, and overdo. That if we aren’t perpetually exhausted, we’re not doing enough. But lately, working hard is more exhausting than ever. And the more depleted we get, the more effort it takes to make progress. Stuck in an endless loop of “Zoom, eat, sleep, repeat”, we’re often working twice as hard to achieve half as much.

Why are Danes the happiest people in the world? The answer, says Meik Wiking, CEO of the Happiness Research Institute in Copenhagen, is hygge. Loosely translated, hygge - pronounced hoo-ga - is a sense of comfort, togetherness, and well-being. "Hygge is about an atmosphere and an experience," Wiking explains. "It is about being with the people we love. A feeling of home. A feeling that we are safe."

Hygge is a Danish word used when recognizing a trend or moment, regardless of whether or not together with company, either in home or outdoors, rare or habitual as cozy, beguiling, or unique. It only requires cognizance, specific gradualness, as well as the capacity to become available, understand, and appreciate the present. In this audiobook, I briefly explain the benefits, basics, and details of this lifestyle.

Story
When she moved her young family to her husband's hometown in northern France, Karen Le Billon expected some cultural adjustment. But she didn't expect to be lectured for slipping her fussing toddler a snack, or to be forbidden from packing her older daughter a school lunch. Karen is intrigued by the fact that French children happily eat everything-from beets to broccoli, from salad to spinach - while French obesity rates are a fraction of what they are in North America.

I'm already more at peace!!!
This book was so informative and helped to show me what I need to do differently in the rat race I call life. It focuses on the important things that we tend to lose sight of. It really taught me a lot and I will be applying this to my life in every way I can.

Enjoyable read on Hygge and Lagom
This is the third book that I’ve recently read on the topic of Hygge. This one was very informative and as entertaining as the others! From what I’ve gathered from the readings, Hygge is a defining characteristic of the Danish culture; Lagom is a very similar concept to Hygge and is a defining characteristic of the Swedish culture. Both concepts enable one to have a cozy, contented way of being in their life. It is a way of being that leads to contentment and satisfaction without all the striving and acquiring that most of us believe is necessary in order to have a fulfilled life.
The concept of Hygge is a fascinating one to me because of its uniqueness to the colder northern climates. One might assume that living in such a harsh climate would make most folks grumpy and not content with life; but, such is the opposite for our Danish and Swedish contemporaries! They found a way to live life to its fullest and celebrate their environment with purpose and ease. Great lessons to learn!
I recommend this book for those who are looking for a more fulfilled way of being and living. The tips and suggestions are very thought out and helpful on how to integrate these concepts into your everyday life, and who knows, you might just get Hygge while doing this!

Hygge and Lagom Living
The Hygge and Lagom Bundle is a priceless audiobook. It's positive and upbeat while offering to be mindful and enjoy your life. It talks about taking up new activities and especially with your loved ones. It shares the Swedish culture of hygge with you in ways such as de-cluttering your closet, home, and life. It further teaches the meaning of lagom for instance when giving a gift incorporate more DIY, homemade, or natural gifts and even wildflowers and homemade foods. The great thing is that I've already been doing many of these things but didn't really know it was a thing. And it's definitely a thing. Love it.
Sarah DaMetz does such a wonderful job narrating. She has a beautiful voice and I enjoy listening to her. I She was a great compliment to this already awesome book.

Peaceful
Hygge and Lagon DIY Bundle - eye opening. Sarah DeMetz's voice was so peaceful. What I got out of this was: Relax and be at peace with yourself. We take on too much and stress ourselves out. We put too much importance into "things". Unclutter, simplify your home, work, life in general. The idea of a life board was good as well. I received this audiobook in exchange for my honest review.

I LOVE HUGGE AND LAGOM!
I admit, when I first about these two concepts I was skeptical. It sounded so ... simple. What in today's crazy world is simple anymore? Then I listened to these audiobooks, and now I get it. Simple! It's simply beautiful.
I'm 50 now, and really need to start looking into ways to simplify. Stress can do awful things to you, and I've been a worry-wart my entire life. I really enjoyed listening to this audiobook set, and learning more about Hygge and Lagom. I think anyone would benefit from learning about these principles. I really enjoyed it, and have incorporated some of it into my life.
Learn what's REALLY IMPORTANT in life, and let go of what's not. It's awesome :)

Useful and Positive!
This is a great book bundle for ways to try to change your life/ lifestyle. As a person who suffers from anxiety and stress, I found many of these tips helpful and actually useful on a daily basis without disrupting my normal schedule. The main take away that I got from this book was to be more grateful (even for the little things), make time for yourself, spend more time with family, declutter your home, and relax to find happiness and balance within your life. I enjoyed the recipes that were in each book and the websites of where you can find more. I appreciated that there were also 21 day challenges to try to incorporate the ideals of each concept into your daily life at the end of each book. Sarah did a great job narrating this bundle. Her tone was uplifting, personal, and non accusatory with what she was saying. It made me feel like I could relate to the concepts better by not feeling ashamed for not having my life as together as I wish it was.

Good information, needs editing.
The information about the Danish and Swedish lifestyles is insteresting, and inspiring. However, this book really needs to be gone over by an editor. There are grammar mistakes and way too much repetition of concepts. Additionally, URLs found in the ebook are read out loud, which is bizarre. Including a list of referenced websites with the audio download would have been a much less cumbersome approach. There's definitely potential, but as is, this was a slog to get through.
