About this listen

Two exes, one house. What could go wrong?

Olivia had a plan: MBA, Wall Street VP by thirty-two, marriage and two children (preferably twins because #efficiency). Not in her plan? Losing half her belongings in an apartment flood and being forced to turn to her ex for help.

Definitely not in her plan? Moving into said ex's house and watching him walk around shirtless, bake her cupcakes, and look at her with those smoldering—Wait, what was she talking about again?

Between his bakery and meddling family, Sammy had enough on his plate without bringing the ex he'd never been able to forget into the mix.

But when Olivia asks for his help, he couldn't say no. He could, however, make her regret breaking his heart—as long as he doesn't do anything foolish, like sneak into her room and kiss her senseless . . .

As passion slowly replaces their dislike for each other, Sammy and Olivia discover their past isn't what it seems and their future is anything but certain. Can they overcome their pride and give love a second chance, or is history doomed to repeat itself?

Contains mature themes.

Relaxing and uncomplicated

I just completed all four books in the series. The story was delightfully, romantic, uncomplicated, and full of spicy love scenes. It’s a kind of story I like to relax to in the evening without having to think too much.
I did find it a bit insulting that most all the older characters were the villains of the story. They weren’t just physically inferior to the young people, but mentally, intellectually, morally, and spiritually inferior as well. it’s a good thing I don’t picture the elderly characters as Chinese, as they were written, or I would end up having a stereotype against elderly Chinese citizens. I just hope people who read the stories realize they are romances and don’t expect to become wealthy, have perfect children and become wealthier and far more successful than the far older people around them.
I would like to have seen at least one couple who were good people, intellectual, kind and happy, despite achieving middle income, and not being vastly superior to everyone around them.

Great continuation of “If Love” characters/storyline

Another great book by Ana Huang! Loved the spice and the fact that the main characters didn’t resolve one issue to immediately make another issue for themselves (as her characters can sometimes do which is infuriating). I hope there are more books in this series since there are other characters’ points of view she hasn’t written from.

I love Ana’s style of writing! One thing that bugged me was her overuse of “AKA,” but thats just my opinion and was easy enough to overlook. Love Aiden’s performance as Sammy, but again something bothered me about Cindy Kay’s performance—when quoting the characters lines she tends to sound stuck up, and I’d like to think Olivia isn’t like that.

This last story in the series surprized me

Ok, so I absolutely HATE Cindy Kay's voice. She does not do characters well, and it always sounds like she is whispering. And if you really listen (maybe this is the audio editing issue), you can hear her gulping and moving her microphone. Its so annoying cause I LOVE Ana Huang's characters and point of view as an author. Is Cindy your BFF? I think its why I rate the King of Series better because you choose better narration. Sorry Aiden, you do a good job; Cindy is bringing you down

On to the book
This series started okay but got frustrating and ended on a sweet and positive note. I love how I can see the blends from other books! You do great world-building like sci-fi authors, and it's noticeable and brings nostalgia from your other great works.
These characters were the most well-developed and clearly relatable in the series. Great work bringing it home with this one.

Olivia and Sammy

Olivia and Sammy were the only couple who came out of Shanghai whole. Who would have thought? Olivia is someone who follows the line to a "T". Always thinking about her family wishes over her own. Whereas Sammy is more of a free will and is ok with disappointing his family for his own happiness. In this series, I really love the full circle of relationships. Olivia and Sammy both knew that they were it for each other. No matter who came throughout their life to try and fit, no one else would.
