About this listen

I'm a therapist, and I work with the most dangerous patients.

I've seen it all.... A boy who planned to be the next school shooter. A patient with OCD whose loved ones really did suffer every time he missed a ritual. A choir boy who claimed he was being molested - not by a priest - but by God Himself. A patient with PTSD who gave me nightmares. A husband and wife who accused each other of abuse, and only one of them was telling the truth.

And how could I ever forget Patient #220.

The problem is, my patients have a habit of dying. Sometimes I wonder if I'm the common denominator. Or maybe that's just the cost of taking on exceptionally broken clients.

Either way, I'll never stop trying to help.

Wow!!!

Had to take a long ride with my daughter after not much sleep. Got this book. My daughter and I were mesmerized. We didn’t want to get out of the car because the story wasn’t over.
My daughter downloaded the audible app just to finish the story. Can’t wait til the next group of stories comes out.
Unpredictable, fresh.

Great first half, Awful Second Half

The first half of the book, aka the first two stories were fine. Then by story three it was just a 1 off throw away with no real plot or meaning. Just an excuse to whine about religious people and scream about how it was god's fault someone self harmed over being gay. The author even admits it's his own personal story that was just there to let you know he was gay... thanks I guess? Did that really matter? Did we really need 20 minutes of nonsense to get to a bad ending. That's the biggest problem with this book. Great build up, awful pay offs. Just the endings are stephen king bad.

Ridiculous

As a practicing therapist myself, I was so put off by the behavior of the main character that I could barely continue listening. The lack of boundaries and decent judgement are hard to find entertaining. The Dr's own pathology as well as the absurdity of his over involvement in his cases does not, in my opinion, make for good fiction. I didn't finish the last story, I was so uninterested by the end.

Gripping and will keep you on the edge

This book reveals the nitty gritty that exists in this world. These situations can be cut and dry, a roller coaster, or well hidden. This book was amazing.

Can't get enough.

I couldn't quit this book. I would end each Chapter wanting to know more. I listened while I cooked, while I cleaned, even whiling studying and doing homework. I haven't stopped talking about this book to my friends and family. I keep listening over and over. The ending left me on edge and I am so ready to read the next one. I must know what happens next!

Entertaining but it had a weak & dissatisfying plot towards the end

I like how this book kept me drawn to the story but I felt like the plot towards the climax & ending cheapen the story of Dr. Harper.
