About this listen

"The Scottish accents of narrators Tim Campbell and Mhairi Morrison introduce YA listeners to this historical romance/mystery set in nineteenth-century Edinburgh." —AudioFile

Immortality: A Love Story
is the eagerly anticipated sequel to Dana Schwartz's #1 bestselling gothic romance, Anatomy: A Love Story.

Hazel Sinnett is alone and half-convinced the events of the year before—the immortality, Beecham’s vial—were a figment of her imagination. She doesn’t even know if Jack is alive or dead. All she can really do now is treat patients and maintain Hawthornden Castle as it starts to decay around her.

When saving a life leads to her arrest, Hazel seems doomed to rot in prison until a message intervenes: Hazel has been specifically requested to be the personal physician of Princess Charlotte, the sickly granddaughter of King George III. Soon Hazel is dragged into the glamor and romance of a court where everyone has something to hide, especially the enigmatic, brilliant members of a social club known as the Companions to the Death.

As Hazel’s work entangles her more and more with the British court, she realizes that her own future as a surgeon isn't the only thing at stake for her. Malicious forces are at work in the monarchy, and Hazel may be the only one capable of setting things right.

Immortality - What a fantastic book! A grand conclusion to the indomitable early life of Hazel Senate. The love story between Hazel and Jack, the medical and surgical themes, the incredible cast of characters, and the narration of Mhairi Morrison and Tim Campbell make this a must read / listen. I'm looking forward to reading more from this author and both narrators.

This sequel to Anatomi is, like many sequels, better than the first. I love how each character comes to life on the page. The story is paced well and it’s so good to have a female protagonist that gets to do and achieve something more than getting a man.

A story told well

It is abundantly clear in the selection of every word that the author has spent a lot of time steeped in the history and background of the time. She dips into fantasy in a way that doesn't detract from the realism of the time. I like to imagine that Hazel was a real woman, one of the many women whose story we never heard. I can't wait to go back and listen to both again!

Dana Schwartz delivers another gem!

I enjoyed the sequel. The characters are just as fun as the original. Unfortunately the story got off to a bit of a slow start as we seemed to play a bit of catch up for those that hadn’t read book 1. The narrator was on point and enjoyable.

Good story but slow start

Love this book so much right from the beginning! The sequel and continuance of Hazel’s story had some twists and turns which kept me on the edge of my seat.

Dana Schwartz please write more historical fiction!

Great sequel!

Interesting book, I would recommend it to fans of Dana Schwartz's Noble Blood podcast

I love Dana Schwartz

I loved the story but without spoilers, Simon’s introduction took my mind to a different place. It was flirty and and challenging and really made Hazel come to life with an independence that I wanted for her. Jack is my boy, my day one from Anatomy so when she thought of him my heart would sink because I myself as a reader was caught between the two. I personally would have preferred something different but I genuinely feel that Simon and Jack should not exist in the same world. They’re both amazing. Also loved Princess Charlotte!

Great story but wished for alternate ending

it wasn't as strong as the first book surprisingly. it felt like this book retcon some emotions and decisions from first book. there were some hard to swallow character decisions in this book which took me out of the story, it went beyond suspension of disbelief, and against the established character.
great voice acting,

retcon'd the first book

This story was just amazing! I love how Dana intertwined the historical with the fantastical. Without giving any spoilers it's impossible to explain what I loved the most about how things resolve. I loved the characters, old and new, and I especially liked Simon.
Overall, I highly recommend this sequel!

Loved it!
