About this listen

Julianne MacLean's thrilling Pembroke Palace Series begins when a young and innocent aristocratic lady is rescued from a runaway coach by a heroic stranger on a horse-who appears like a phantom out of the mist in a fog-shrouded forest.

Lady Rebecca Newland cannot forget the captivating nobleman who saved her life, and she sets out to meet him again when she is of an age to be courted. Unbeknownst to her, her timing is impeccable, for Devon Sinclair, the future Duke of Pembroke, has just been informed by his mad father that he must take a wife before Christmas in order to thwart a family curse and preserve his inheritance.

Lady Rebecca is everything Devon could want in a wife - she is beautiful, charming, and she desires him openly. But can a marriage built on fantasy succeed, or will the lovers be forever entangled in the seductive web of their mutual passion for what occurs each night the marriage bed?

Devon Sinclair, Heir Apparent of the Mad Duke

Would you listen to In My Wildest Fantasies again? Why?

Yes. Although I read the Pembroke Palace series out of sequence, " In My Wildest Fantasies" is the first book and the story of Devon Sinclair, heir apparent, which lays the foundation for the other books in the series. The other books can stand alone, but it's best to read them in order. Each book includes other family members, yet is unique in and of itself. Sometime in the future I will listen to them again; in order. I plan to read the last book soon; about the youngest sibling and only girl in the Sinclair family. I've enjoyed each book I've read in this series.

What was one of the most memorable moments of In My Wildest Fantasies?

There were many , but I liked the beginning when Lady Rebecca and her father are rescued by a handsome stranger when their horses run out of control.

Which scene was your favorite?

It's hard to choose a favorite scene because the book as a whole makes it enjoyable to listen to. If I have to choose one, perhaps it would be at the Duchess' birthday ball when Rebecca and the daughter of a Duke vie for Devon's attention. In her innocence Rebecca holds her own against the devious machinations of the daughter of a Duke who expects to marry Lord Devon.

If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?

Dreams do come true.

Any additional comments?

In My Wildest Fantasies you'll find humor, mystery, drama, sexual activity, sorrow; elements that make up a good book and made even better by Rosalyn Landor's excellent narration.

Loved it!!!

I’m so happy I came across this author (Julianne MacLean) today, and even happier to know this book is the first in a series!!! And - so happy to see that Rosalyn Landor is the narrator, because - of course it’s going to be a great listen. Oh happy day!

Frustrating

Not sure why these people's behavior is considered "romantic"...the hero's responses to people abusing his wife was pretty underwhelming.

Story within a story

I really enjoyed “story within the story” regarding the diary and how it effected the two main characters and their interactions because of it.

Gotta Love A Hero

Would you consider the audio edition of In My Wildest Fantasies to be better than the print version?

I never read the print version.

What was one of the most memorable moments of In My Wildest Fantasies?

When Devon and Rebecca comes face to face or mask to mask at the ball. The sparks started flying then. Also, when Lady Latisha realized that she was not the chosen one. I didn't like the way Devon allowed her to smack him, not just once, but twice.

Which character – as performed by Rosalyn Landor – was your favorite?

Devon's voice, but all the male voices pretty much sound the same. However, I do love her as a narrator.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

It made me sad because of the relationship that was lost between Devon and Vincent. Vincent's attitude was understandable due to the circumstances. However, it clearly showed that we have no control over whom we fall in love with, or who falls in love with us. Family division has to be worked out through forgiveness.

Great start to a series.

Loved the characters and the storyline. Can't wait for the next book. Strong narration with OK character voice changes.

Very nice story, above average tale

This plot had a good deal of tension building events which I enjoyed. This was the first book I have read by this author, and I wil6 happily try some more. I have only one complaint, and this is a problem I am seeing less and less of, thank goodness. Most newer novels around the subject matter of sex do now make it clear that women do mostly need a bit more than intercourse to achieve orgasm. Am I blushing? Nope, as these rather vivid stories may make a reader do so, but I like these events added to stories such as these, as long as they tell the complete bedding stories. This novel does fail the imagination in this department. But the rest is grand.

Dear God….. this duke has responsibility issues!!!

Overall I’d have to say I really enjoyed this book. Liked how the heroin (with the help of her aunt) planned out and captured the future duke of Pembroke’s heart. However the scene that takes the cake was the initial tryst at the gallery on his estate. I felt myself feel embarrassed for her. Wish the book was a bit longer but it still covered a lot at the current length. Will be interested to read about his brother Vincent in the next book.

Not the best

This was an okay book. The narration was great but it's Roslyn Landor and she's always fantastic. The chemistry between the two main characters was not strong in my opinion. It was okay but nothing that jumped out at me. That's how I felt about the whole book. There's nothing really bad with it but it didn't grab me. I look forward to reading the next one in the series. This ending teased the subsequent book and it could be quite interesting.
