Critic reviews

“Another entertaining episode in what has become a bit of a soap opera about the rich and famous.... With the socially relevant backdrops of the president, privacy and the paparazzi, there is enough intrigue to connect the dots between the last book and the next one that's sure to come.” (Associated Press)

“[An] irresistible, luxury-soaked soap opera.” (Publishers Weekly)

same old stuff over and over again. nothing new for stone Berrington and the world he lives in is too elite for anybody to relate to

Love it.

it seems these books are becoming more about everyone having sex than a detective story

not as great as they use to be

This for me was a better than average Stone story. But it left me hanging on several parts. Spoiler alert, the recording of the conversation with the Governor turned out to be inconsequential. Perhaps I missed it’s big scene but I would have preferred it be left out if it didn’t have any overall role in the story. The Protagonist was left out to dry in the story. She played an important role in the story but for me it was rendered useless by circumstance. I could not tell if she was genuinely interested in the governor or taking the advice of her cohort and marrying him for his money. As the story progresses it was less clear for me. Two more items. Initially I was more bothered by the Secret Service being so inept. However, like the USPSs Police group it has been weakened and is no longer the elite group me and the rest of country and believed it once was. Congress gutted the Postal Service and with its Enforcement arm. Once I had occasion to report a problem and was very disappointed with their response. They basically told me to handle it or call the police if it got really bad. The Secret Service has been in the news because of its failure not for being the elite group I believed them to be. The president was on a working vacation being followed by a ship with Secret Service members and a Coastguard Cutter bristling with people and equipment fend off an attract half of the Russian and Chinese Militaries. But they managed to miss another yacht shadowing the President and guest the entire journey. The bad guys[a woman was the leader] used radar to track the Presidential Yacht for most of the journey. They even managed to get to get some salacious pictures and send them back to the U.S.A. completely undetected. Lastly, most of the happy group of criminals were essentially left free. The only one that paid for his crimes was shot to death by the Chauffeur. The other three were allowed to go without any problems. That was in spite of them having been a part in shooting the Secretary of State. Trust me they made enough mistakes to have the Home Alone crooks look like Criminal Masterminds.

Puzzling

I am a raving fan and love the way Stuart Woods weaves the many sub plots into the main story. Easy to listen to and impossible to stop until the very end.

Great as always !

I enjoy the characters of your book I read many I found the repeat of the history too repetitive to really enjoy the book as much as I have others I'm buying the next one as I'm trying to complete the series But on a scale of 1 to 10 I would rate this at 4

not one of your best
