About this listen

When Elise Vanderzell plummets from her balcony one night, her children awaken to a nightmare.

Their mother is dead.

Their father is charged with her murder.

Lawyer Kate Lange knows all about nightmares. She survived the darkest period of her life and the wounds are still raw. Now she's been handed a case that seems unwinnable: defending her boss, high-profile lawyer Randall Barrett. A prosecutor's dream suspect, Randall is a man cuckolded by his ex-wife. A man who couldn't control his temper. A man who had argued bitterly with the victim the previous day in full view of the children.

With limited criminal law experience, Kate finds herself enmeshed in a family fractured by doubt. Randall's teenage son is intent on killing him. His daughter wants only to feel safe again. And the legal community would like nothing better than to see Randall get a public comeuppance. As Kate races to stay a step ahead of the prosecution, a silent predator is waiting to deal the final blow.

Different View/ murder she wrote

I enjoyed the series so far; it reminds me of the murder she wrote series. You know who the killer is and you watch Det. Ethan Drake who is supposed to be the top cop of this series but so often the victims save themselves and Kate figures out the clues.

Keeps interest and entertainer

Callow tells a good story with a bit too much repetition but still well-done. We like Kate, but here’s where Callow repeats too much. We get she has baggage. We get why. We don’t need multiple reminders.

The narration is excellent with a few bumps. Some of her foreign accents are off, especially the ME. And since the author knows and uses the word proffers, she should let her narrator know it’s not prefer.

Other than these nuts, I’d continue the series.

Twists and Turns make it interesting.

Keeps you guessing to the end. I didn't like the narrator at first, but she sounded better and better as the story progressed. I ended up listening to the last 3 or 4 hours at one stretch instead of waiting until I was driving again (I usually listen in the car). Very interesting and enjoyable.

UP ALL NIGHT!!! A good listen!!!

Would you listen to Indefensible again? Why?

Yes, I would listen again. This was an excellent story. I would listen again, because it was so detailed, I sure I missed something the first time around.

What other book might you compare Indefensible to and why?

Kiss the Girls by James Patterson. I would compare the author to James Patterson, Patricia Cornwell and John Grisham.

Which scene was your favorite?

The scenes where Dr. Jamie gradually started revealing himself. Also, the scene where they caught him on the river and he drowned.

If you were to make a film of this book, what would be the tag line be?

Patients Beware!!!

I'm a new fan!

I thoroughly enjoyed this legal thriller. I have never read a book by the author, Pamela Callow, but am now looking forward to getting the first book in the series - Damaged - and also listening to the third book - Tattooed. I wish I had read "Damaged" first so that I would have known the background leading up to this story, however, I enjoyed it anyhow.

I liked the main character, Kate Lange, in addition to all of the characters that the author developed extremely well. I also liked the setting of the story in Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada.

I highly recommend this book. I also enjoyed the narration by Eva Kaminsky. She did an excellent job and I hope that she continues to narrate the series.
