Publisher's summary

I seduced my brother's best friend to take my innocence and he convinced me to fake marry him!

Jake Dunne: Sinfully handsome. Naughty. Funny. Piercing blue eyes. And kisses like nobody's business....

Jake Dunne: Also the man who broke my heart, five years ago. My fake husband but my baby's real father!

It was supposed to be...well, let's call it "a business arrangement." Only six months. Each of us gets our dreams. And we call it quits.

There's just one simple rule - "Don't fall in love."

Except that I broke the rule. And while Jake is busy getting the divorce papers ready, I am staring at the two pink lines on the stick.

Contains mature themes.

Lack of Communications

Chapters upon chapters of lack of communication. Until the last drop! Two adults that have known each other since they were 5 years old...can't talk to each other but can agree to a marriage of convenience, stay together for six months so he can get his law partnership and she can get her bakery but can't have an honest conversation about feelings after sleeping together multiple times? Okay, I get how that can happen for a chapter or two with feelings and embarrassments...awkwardness even... but MONTHS? Nope. And when things came to a head and she admitted her feelings...took the plunge.. the lawyer went to draw up custody papers. Yikes! That sealed his fate in my book. With less than 20 minutes left in the book...not much could make me like Jake again. To think you love this woman but not know how to tell her THEN watch that vulnerable woman have the balls to tell you how she feels first only to have you leave, think on it for a bit after cooling down then draw up custody papers?! Where was the big moment of confession for your love? Even when he did have a gesture...it felt more for HIM and the baby instead of her. This books makes me wary of lawyer relationships.

Jake and Sofia

*****SPOILER ALERT*****

Just Faking It by Katy Kaylee. Brother's Best Friend series, book 5. Audiobook review. Dual POV. This is an unrequited love, brother's best friend, second chance, secret marriage of convenience, and hidden pregnancy romance. It's listed as 8 hours 41 minutes; I listened at speed 2.50 for 3 hours 28 minutes. Narrators Alex Kydd and Elizabeth Russell both read well, but their east coast accents were inconsistent and, at times, distracting. Content warnings: h's brother is a cheater; H father is a cheater; promotion/family manipulation.

Sofia Annabella Bellini (21, 26; aka Sof/Goddess) throws herself at Jake Michael Dunne (3 years older than Sofia) the night of her 21st birthday. Jake didn't know she was a v¡rg¡n, and seemed to instantly regret being intimate with his best friend's younger sister. Sofia wanted more with him, so she went to see him at his apartment. She was upset when an attractive woman opened the door and left broken hearted when Jake was confused by her surprise pop-in. Five years later, Jake is a lawyer desperate to make partner, and Sofia is a pastry chef at a hotel dreaming of owning her own bakery. Jake learns that the primary reason he isn't being offered a partnership is because the other partners think he's not settled enough since he's still single. Sofia goes to a party with her friend where she sees Jake again. Jake contacts Sofia and offers to fund her bakery if she marries him for 6 months so he can make partner. His mentor and one of the partners throws them a wedding. Neither Jake nor Sofia tell their family's since their marriage is transactional. Everything works out as planned until Sofia's pregnancy test is positive. She wants Jake to ask her to stay married because he loves her, not because she's pregnant. Sadly, he is too scarred by his father's infidelity to tell Sofia how he feels. She moves out. Her brother visits her, finds ultrasound pictures, realizes Jake is the father, goes to Jake's office, confronts him and outs Sofia's pregnancy. Of course, Jake is shocked and hurt so he goes to Sofia to find out if it's true. Sofia confirms him that she is pregnant but Jake won't listen to her explanation. In the end, Jake solidifies his partnership role, increases the value of the firm's culture with child care and work from home options, they're still married, their son is 1 year old, and her brother's marriage and life are back on the right track.
