Review of Lie Still

I didn’t enjoy this book because of too many characters and redundant throughout. Exhausted repetitive listening.

Not Her Best but Worth Reading

I have read most of the rest of Julia Heaberlin's books and greatly enjoyed them all (Paper Ghosts and We Are All the Same in the Dark are particular favorites). I realize this one was written earlier in her career, and she had not yet developed into the masterful suspense writer she's become. While this one was not my favorite, it's still worth reading. I just wouldn't start with it if you're not familiar with her work.

I also found the narrator's voice grating and her performance melodramatic.

Lie Still

This was a good novel. The narrator was solid all the way through, giving voice to several different characters in different accents. The story had several components which the author was able to connect solidly. At times, I felt that the author provided unnecessary details which were mundane. However, overall, I think it's a solid audiobook!

I love this author

I’ve read all but one of Ms Heaberlin’s books this year (2023) I love all of her characters, each is fleshed out to enhance the twists and turn’s that make her books a delight to read. She has a gift and I’m here to enjoy every book she writes.

Disappointing

It was interesting and we'll written in parts. I liked Letty a lot, but many of the characters weren't very believable. The narrator, however, was fantastic.

Narrator human or electronic?

This story plot felt overly contrived and I had little to no feelings for the characters. I plowed through to the end but often half listening. The narrator’s voice has very little change in cadence or tone and so not easy to listen to. I’m glad I can move on to something else.

Heaberlin keeps you guessing

Completely unable to predict the end of this one - another masterpiece by Heaberlin.
Hard to anticipate where she'll go next. This book has a dark premise that sneaks up on you at every turn. Couldn't stop listening.

very entertaining!

Definitely a neat book. My first from this author. Enjoyed the characters, especially Letty. Little bit southern sorority and little bit mystery.

Julia Heaberlin is a MASTER of Mystery

I have listened to several books by Julia and have not been disappointed by any. This author maintains a flow that keeps you connected to the plot without repeating each episode which I find annoying. And Rebecca Gibel's narration is so good giving each character a flawless representation. I look forward to more!!

A little too much going on

One or two subplots too many. The goal of having several suspects was made but not necessary.
