Long-listed, Kirkus Reviews Best Books of the Year, 2023

BEING DEVELOPED AS A TV SERIES BY FOX

"The heroine of this psychological thriller is, improbably, an astrophysicist and psychic. Narrator Karissa Vacker captures Vivvy Bouchet's smarts and the urgency with which she goes after the mystery of Lizzy Solomon's disappearance."—AudioFile

“Narrator Karissa Vacker delivers a propulsive performance of Heaberlin’s latest, an intricate and layered supernatural thriller. Vacker’s characterizations are spot-on, capturing stubbornness, impulsivity, and intelligence.”—Library Journal

“An expertly rendered mystery, complete with compelling characters, an impeccably paced plot, and surprising twists...A must-read!”—Heather Gudenkauf, bestselling author of The Overnight Guest

A scientist and reluctant psychic is brought in to find a girl who went missing long ago in the new novel by Julia Heaberlin, the bestselling author of We Are All the Same in the Dark

Vivvy Bouchet, daughter of a known psychic, was ten when she saved a boy’s life by making an impossible prediction. Now she’s an astrophysicist in Texas, devoted to science, but the boy she saved has become a cop who continues to believe she can see things no one else can. When he begs for help on the high-profile cold case of a kidnapped girl, Vivvy steps back into the ocean of voices that once nearly drowned her.

She is forced to team up with detective Jesse Sharp, a skeptic of anything but fact. When Vivvy becomes the target of a conspiracy theorist podcaster, she fights back with both her scientific mind and her inexplicable gifts, hoping to lure a kidnapper, find a child who haunts her, and lay some of her own ghosts to rest.

Sharply relevant, Julia Heaberlin's Night Will Find You explores the mysterious nature of belief—in psychic power, in science, in conspiracies, in a higher power—and the delicate dance between scientific truth and the things we can’t explain.

Critic reviews

Night Will Find You is an expertly rendered mystery, complete with compelling characters, an impeccably paced plot, and surprising twists. Heaberlin writes with such aching beauty I found myself pausing to relish her words and then racing ahead because I couldn’t wait to find out what happened next. A must-read!”—Heather Gudenkauf, New York Times bestselling author of The Overnight Guest

Night Will Find You is a mesmerizing, unputdownable love letter to the mysteries of science and the human mind. With an unforgettable cast of characters—a reluctant psychic and grieving daughter, a wildly popular conspiracy theorist, a police officer with shadowy motives—Julia Heaberlin pays homage to everything we don't know about the universe and ourselves. I am already missing my time inside this world.”—Katie Gutierrez, nationally bestselling author of Good Morning America book club pick More Than You’ll Ever Know

Night Will Find You is a rare thriller that seamlessly straddles the mystic and the scientific. Compelling and compassionate, Hearberlin’s novel has one foot firmly planted in our world of misinformation and the other reaching for the inexplicable. I loved it.”—Ivy Pochoda, acclaimed author of These Women

Fantastic listen!

An astrophysicist w psychic abilities, a missing girl…and a slight love triangle. Vivi is back in her small Texas hometown to bury her mother when her ex BF…now her BIL…asks for help in the cold case of a missing toddler who was presumed dead. She has to work with skeptic, Detective Sharpe, who she is attracted to and maybe it can go somewhere if she can let go of her feelings for her now-brother-in-law. The story certainly keeps your attention throughout….the ending leaves you breathless. Definitely recommend this book.

Finished in Two Days!

The story line of this book is original and captivating. I couldn’t stop listening, finished it in two days! The author did an excellent job with the intricate details about the setting and characters. It makes you feel like you are right there with them. The narrators voice is soothing and familiar, she does a great job portraying the emotional rollercoasters the characters are riding on.

Heaberlin does it again!!

And a FANTASTIC narrator!!! Heaberlin is absolutely my favorite author that is currently putting out new books. As soon as I found her last year, I gobbled up everything she had on Audible within a few weeks, so I was so excited when this one dropped and AM not disappointed!! Won't go in to too much detail because it would be too easy to accidentally 'spoil'. It's just really, really good 💯

Loved the narration of the male voices!! Especially the radio guy..she just got the Alex-Jones-of-it-all perfect! So rare for narrators to capture all genders in a realistic tone!

I'm so amused by the whining reviews about the book being "pro-lib" and "conservative bashing" and "preachy". They all mention that "she's a scientist" in a sneering manner.

I would describe all characters in this book as center right. The main character's sole "rant" at radio guy definitely leans conservative and EVERYONE carries a gun!! Sadly for kool aid drinkers, she DOES throughout the book differentiate liberally (HA!) between mysteries and conspiracies...the truly unknown and BS.

As one of our favorite conservative TV personalities used to say, reality DOES have a strong liberal bias..lol. It speaks to the author's incredible talent that just a few paragraphs correctly describing how easily a certain type of FICTIONAL! media consumer can be manipulated, can compel a certain type of ACTUAL media consumer to recognize themselves in the absurdity of the caricature, then behave IRL exactly as the author predicted. With no irony whatsoever...lol. THAT'S good writing!

I thought the inclusion of radio guy and his minions was not just spot on, but a fantastic plot device that 20 years ago would have seemed over the top. It actually made the delightfully kooky psychic mom/daughter aspect feel more valid than the strange fictions that so many choose to make their realities these days. And I suspect that was her point.

Best one yet!

I’ve read all of Julia’s books and I believe this is her best one yet. Her characters were believable and the story had enough twist to keep the reader interested and enjoying the journey.

Just Okay

The reader was the best part of this story experience! I enjoyed it enough to finish it, but wouldn't read it again or recommend it as being a great book.

Could not disagree more with Catherine

I thought the narrator did a fantastic job. I connected immediately and the story was wonderful Eleuthera a pace that kept me enthralled. Some great twists to keep me hanging in. Loved it. Vic was such a complex character. Warm but gritty yet with a vulnerable softness.

Thoroughly Enjoyed

My second book by the same author. Great story with twists and turns, Some giggles and moments of desire woven in thoughtfully. I’m from Texas and the Texas stuff can be a bit much at times, but there are people that delve into the state vibe more than most. I listened to the book over a few short days. Will be trying another soon.
