Not my favorite

I'm not sure if it was the book itself I struggled finishing or I just really didn't care for the narrator.

Top Notch book!

I don’t ever give anything 5 stars, last time anyone was that good they were a Jewish Carpenter. That said this story was excellent and always kept me interested. Kudos to the author and people reading it you kept me entertained for hours.

First Lead Character I Wished Would Just Die

Is there anything you would change about this book?

For the first series in this set, the ending seemed to get rushed. Would like to see another book maybe that goes into rebuilding? The second series in this set, I really have to say, this is the first time I wished a lead character would just die. Wren was annoying, stuck up, and too into herself. I am hoping that is how the author meant her to be because if it was, then he nailed her character.

Would you be willing to try another book from James Hunt? Why or why not?

I would try other books as well. The story was good and entertaining. For those that complained that it was unrealistic, well, this is fiction after all.

What do you think the narrator could have done better?

The narrator's of both book series all did a good job. It took some time to get used to switching between 2 different styles on the same series but I like them.

Could you see Lights Out Super Boxset: EMP Survival in a Powerless World being made into a movie or a TV series? Who should the stars be?

Not really sure. Maybe a TV mini-series?

Any additional comments?

As I had mentioned the main character was a giant witch with a capital B. I am hoping that is how the author intended? This was the first time I have actually hoped the main character would get knocked off. As I went through the book I actually felt sorry for any male character that had to deal with her. In real life, I wouldn't blame Doug for doing what he did.

A bit of a yahner (so far)

Is there anything you would change about this book?

I wasn't crazy about the female narrator. More survival and prepper tips, tricks, and insights

Has Lights Out Super Boxset: EMP Survival in a Powerless World turned you off from other books in this genre?

No

How could the performance have been better?

Male and/or more experienced/taleneted narrator

Was Lights Out Super Boxset: EMP Survival in a Powerless World worth the listening time?

Not so far

Any additional comments?

In fairness, I am only 5 chapters in, but I'm likely to return it. There was a bit too much Superwoman; storyline exhibited by the unrealistic scenarios wherein the female airline pilot super mom; seemed to be able to accomplish everything short of leaping tall buildings with a single bound. For example, after single-handedly running off 3 would be rapists, she talks a total stranger out his classic airplane (likely leaving him to die!) in about 2 minutes so she could fly to Virginia to save her son. Not much in the way of a real end-of-the-world story line IMO. A bit over the top with fantasyland woman power stuff. OK if that's your cup of tea. It's not mine....

Good books horrible narrators

In the first book the narrator, whom I’ve listened to in several other books, has the same voice for every older male character as well as every child character. There’s no depth there.

As for the second book, the narrator is very flat, no emotion in non dialogue portions.

In both books it seems as if the narrator is reading AT you and not TO you, not sure if that makes sense. Stories were great however.

I can't finish this

She gets knocked down repeatedly. She gets in bad situations repeatedly, then is miraculously extricate from them. She acts like her very sick young daughter is unimportant. The miles are way off...and where I'm stopping at--her son should be dead--he was shot almostpoint blank, and she's leading the son's father's men away from him. Too predictable.
