About this listen

Meg Mackworth's hand-lettering skill has made her famous as the Planner of Park Slope, designing custom journals for her New York City clientele. She has another skill too: reading signs that other people miss. Knowing the upcoming marriage of Reid Sutherland and his gorgeous fiancee was doomed to fail is one thing, but weaving a secret word of warning into their wedding program is another. Meg may have thought no one would spot it, but she hadn't counted on sharp-eyed, pattern-obsessed Reid....

A year later, Reid has tracked Meg down to find out how she knew that his meticulously planned future was about to implode. But with a looming deadline and a bad case of creative block, Meg doesn't have time for Reid's questions - unless he can help her find her missing inspiration. As they gradually open up to each other, both try to ignore a deepening connection between them. But the signs are there - irresistible, indisputable, urging Meg to heed the messages Reid is sending her, before it's too late....

Contains mature themes.

This story was just what I needed, great character building, a couple you root for, and just enough real life to root it to reality.

A sweet delight

It all comes together in a beautiful way. Keep reading if the beginning feels slow.

Keep with it!

I didn't know what to expect, after the synopsis on Audible. It's different from other recent listens and very engaging. The two main characters were well established and you were rooting for them from the moment they met, and the story had a twist I definitely was not expecting. I usually meander with my audiobooks, but I listened every chance I could get. A satisfying listen.

Not mushy and predictable

This book is made up of dozens of tiny moments of seemingly insignificant contact, building and building. Like Darcy flexing his hand after touching Lizzie's skin for the first time (Pride & Prejudice, 2005). Tiny moments that resonate so deeply. Every set up has a meaningful payoff. Every plot line is carried through passionately and believably. And I adore how in love with lettering Meg is, and how we come to love it to. I couldn't adore Reid more. I intend to foist this book off on all my friends and have already bought my first paperback copy in order to do so. The audiobook is wonderfully performed.

Lovely in every way

I could not bring myself to finish this piece of self serving drivel posing as a novel. On and on and on without growth from either character. Please! Who cares about this main character and her creative block? poor darling can still afford to live in one of the most expensive cities in the world without a seeming fixed income. She sabotaged wedding plans and the hero just forgave her??? I can only imagine what I would do in that situation.

perhaps the most boring use of my time to date

As a newbie calligrapher I enjoyed the The semblance of the main characters use of letters and colors to relate to relationships and feelings. But overall, I enjoy a lighthearted page turning story of which this story is. I hope you enjoy it as well.

Sweet story of romance budding and lettering

An exquisitely crafted love letter to hand-lettering and type, New York City, and two sweet, thoughtful, somewhat lonely people.

Meg is a calligrapher who sees words and thoughts in type and hand lettering. I easily pictured this as a movie with type and letters surrounding her whenever something profound happened to her. Reid is a numbers guy - a mathematician working on Wall Street who is charmed by her view of the city and its signs.

Originally Meg does the lettering for Reid and his fiancee's wedding, but they meet again almost a year later when she learns that they never married. He stops by the shop where she works to ask about a possible hidden message in their wedding program. And yes, Meg did hide a message there. It's a quiet, sassy quirk she has and has vowed not to do again.

Meg and Reid start out as friends. He dislikes NYC and she invites him to walk with her through Brooklyn to see a different side of it - all the beautiful hand-lettered signs that people don't normally notice. He is outwardly formal and wooden but she sees behind that to his real self. Gradually they become more than just friends.

Clayborn's writing is so thoughtful and evocative, I found myself cherishing every moment of the book.

Beautifully Written

I totally enjoyed Love Lettering. The characters were so interesting and the narration made them even better. The tone and inflection of Nicole Zanzarella was excellent. She made the characters come to life for me. I loved the flow of the storyline and the ease at which I was able to visualize the story. I loved it.

I don’t really know what to expect when I started this book. Coming back to romance from after reading, a bunch of thrillers and fantasy, I wanted something lighthearted and fun. This was exactly that. The two main characters are both absolute nerds in their own way. I will not lie, I did cry while reading this. I noticed some comments talk about lack of growth or being boring, but I think this book really captured the small challenges that we have to go through to learn how to be better people were the people around us. And learning that sometimes you just can’t take life so seriously. Play a game.

I thought his bus was very cute. I appreciate the quirks in the characters. Megs difficulty with confrontation after dealing with parents who have fought for a long as you remember really give me a piece of mind I didn’t realize I was looking for in my life. It really helped me realize that, in my own life, I have my own fights that are worth while and that I need to stay for.

Loved this book.

For the nerds

The narrator is the only thing I liked about this book. The characters and story were seriously lacking.
