About this listen

He's at her service....

Though she can't afford the coal to heat her drafty Mayfair mansion, Felicity Langley still clings to her dream of marrying a duke - one she's had since her very first curtsy. After all, she's been promised to the very lofty duke of Hollindrake for the last four years. Now all she has to do is meet him. But what Felicity doesn't realize is that she has met her duke - he's the altogether too handsome man who Felicity has just mistaken...for her new footman!

By rights, Thatcher should immediately set this presumptuous chit straight and tell her he has no intention of honoring the arranged betrothal. But he's quickly smitten by Felicity's delightful determination, her irrepressible charm...and her breathtaking sensuality. Yes, she'd wed him in an instant were his true identity revealed - but Thatcher's vowed to marry only for love. So begins his deception and his conquest of this uncommon woman who doesn't believe in romance but is about to find her heart and passion set aflame by the unlikely man she's sworn to resist.

I loved the Duke & Felicity’s relationship. The characters give a wide variety of personalities. Love the resourcefulness of the women. Good narrative.

Overall this series is fully enjoyable. Funny, interesting without being heavy handed, no over the top depressing inner monologues. Here’s my one complaint, which is most obvious in this book, the timelines. They make absolutely no sense. So this girl is supposed to be of an age with Duke, he’s older of course, but an appropriate age, not some weird “man is old enough to be her father” age difference. but then he’s supposed to be of an age with a man she calls uncle as he was a close friend of her fathers FROM HER CHILDHOOD , and another man who has several adult daughters of an age with the female lead. These are men the Duke supposedly went around town with when they were all young men. It just makes absolutely no sense. If you set that aside, enjoyable. But that one thing just really is a bee in my bonnet

Enjoyable

This is such a sweet story. The dialogue is “snappy” and funny. It really helps to read the previous books in the series. Susan Duerden gives her usual “enchanting” performance. It will definitely be a re-read for me.

Good story and reader is wonderful

This is another terrific book by ElizabethBoyle. The characters steal your heart; the dialogue sparkles; and the narrator - Susan Duerden - is pitch perfect!
I cannot wait for the next Bachelor Chronicle. Absolutely love this series!

I l9ved every moment of this book. Felicia's character was written as such an original. Fresh and full of life. She practically jum0s off the page. Thatcher's character too was vibrant and believable. I adored their love story and the lesson behind it. It translated well for today's catfishing capers on social media. This is the first book of Boyles I highly recommend and I can't wait for Pippen and Tallie's stories!
GREAT narration as usual 👏

Best of the series so far

What a fun storyline, but the scene in chapter two went on interminably. Almost the whole, long chapter was one repetitive scene that was waaay overdone. Yep, I got the point right away and didn't need the lesson in patience. It took another two chapters to get through another scene. The plot is at a standstill. Cute story, upbeat, playful characters, but the author hasn’t been able to keep the plot moving forward. She has bogged it down in stand-stills. Finally, at chapter twelve, I was anxious to see how the rest unfolded. Up to that point, there were a handful of good moments, but you may need to use a fast speed during some of those long scenes. I liked the couple the heroine had matched together a few years earlier. Would like to see more of them.

Hope it gets better
