Publisher's summary

Dangerous. Sensual. Handsome as sin. Meet Hayden Rothwell, the shamelessly erotic hero of The Rules of Seduction and author Madeline Hunter's most irresistible alpha male yet: a man of extraordinary passion and power, a man who can bring out the seductress in any woman....

He enters her home without warning or invitation - a stranger of shadowy motives and commanding sensuality. Within hours, Alexia Welbourne is penniless, without any hope of marriage. Until Hayden Rothwell takes her to bed. When one impulsive act of passion forces Alexia to marry the very man who has ruined her, Hayden's seduction of Alexia is nearly complete. What Alexia doesn't know is that her irresistible new husband is driven by a secret purpose - and a debt of honor he will risk everything to repay.

Alexia is the wild card. Reluctant to give up their nightly pleasures, Hayden must find a way to keep Alexia by his side...only to be utterly, thoroughly seduced by a woman who is now playing by her own rules.

Contains mature themes.

I love the love story between the two main characters.

I have read this book so many times and still love it. The love story and development of the other characters is lovely.

Did not disappoint

I finished this way too quick! I loved all their sex scenes! Hayden is a man after my own heart. The ending was pretty good too!

Nice story

Sweet story of falling in love. The narrator was very breathy/whispery and hard to follow. I put the book on 1.2 speed and made it better

A lovely story, jarring narration

I love Madeline Hunter’s stories and was delighted to find her on Audible. This book was a welcome diversion during a long hard week. The story was intricately woven and the romance built along side the conflict. I thoroughly enjoyed the writing. The narrator, however, grates on my every nerve. Her inflections are the same in nearly every sentence whether a character is walking to the chamberpot, being held for ransom at knifepoint, or in midst of passion. (These examples come from several of her different narrations.) I usually forgo buying a book if I see that she is the narrator. This time, I was so excited to see Ms. Hunter’s work, I purchased before reading the name of the narrator. I gritted my teeth and resolved not to impersonate Van Gogh, and listen all the way through.

Bad reader

The exaggerated accent was distracting and annoying. Why, I ask, is “service” pronounced “sahvice” and “her” as “hah”. Bad elocution teacher?

Susan Duerden

Excellent job. I’m trying to listen to the next one and the narrator is horrible. Can’t tell make it female characters

Different Love Story

I enjoyed this book. It was a beautiful story of love. I hated that the two brothers were allowed to sail away with no repercussions leaving their sisters to fend for themselves. I hated that Hayden had to suffer the blame for the brother's actions. Hayden was a good man placed in an impossible situation. Hoping there is a follow up to this book that brings the brother's to justice and the sister's to find happiness.

Pretty good.

Narrator made this not as enjoyable as it could've been. Her cadence throughout was distracting and became quite annoying. I listened to this at 1.20x and didn't help.

The story was good with good balance of plot and heat. I am looking forward to the next in this series.

Loved it!

I don't care what anyone says Susan Fierce is an excellent narrator, her voice has a husky silk register that worked well especially in this story. It is thoughtful, sensual and dramatic in a way that lends mystery and promise. One of Madeline Hunter's finest love story..
