Recovering addicts are faced with many challenges, and these challenges can often extend to their romantic partners. During the recovery period, couples often struggle with overcoming feelings of betrayal and frustration, and may have a hard time rebuilding trust and closeness. While there are many resources available to recovering addicts, there are limited resources for the people who love them.

In Loving Someone in Recovery, therapist Beverly Berg offers powerful tools for the partners of recovering addicts. Based in mindfulness, attachment theory, and neurobiology, this book will help listeners sustain emotional stability in their relationships, increase effective communication, establish boundaries, and take real steps toward reigniting intimacy.

The material in this book is drawn from the author's successful Conscious Couples Recovery Workshop. With more than 25 years in the field, she has developed a unique set of exercises that address the issues faced by couples in recovery. This book addresses the roles that both partners play in recovery, and aims to help listeners develop a new appreciation for one another and improve self-confidence and acceptance.

The road to recovery is never an easy one, but by building a strong support system, the chances of success are exponentially greater.

This book had helpful suggestions and advice for someone in a relationship with an addict. There were many stories and examples that helped me relate the topics to my own situation. Would recommend for anyone in a relationship with a recovering person.

Great personal stories

This is a great book with practical applications that I believe can work if/when one chooses to implement them.

Excellent read. I learned so much.

I am so glad I found this book. I found it very relatable and the information on co-dependence was an eye opener for me. I didn’t like the narration, it felt almost like AI but I can overlook that.y main turnoff was the extreme focus on spirituality. So much time was spent on it, it felt like it was being rammed down my throat. I know that a mindfulness practice is very useful but doesn’t need to be so couched in spiritual terms.

Very useful and relatable in my time of need

The book claims to be narrated by a human, but the voice on the book is anything but. It is a harsh, computer generated voice, that simply ruined the book. Could not get past the first chapter.

Horrible Narration
