Mating instincts are hell…

Casey hasn’t had an easy life. On her eighteenth birthday, she learns why she's always felt so different. She’s a shifter. Hiding behind a diner for shelter now that she’s been kicked out of the last in a long line of foster homes, she’s shocked when a man approaches her offering help.

Mack is still searching for the cub his father took in even years after her kidnapping. He had no idea he’d find his mate, and the girl he’s been searching for, Casey, when he offers to help a woman outside of a local favorite diner.

Love this first book in the series

I received this audiobook free for an honest review. The author and narrator did a great job in bringing this paranormal story to life. It was hard to put down once started. To find out the powers Casey possessed was exciting. I love seeing strong women in a world full of obstacles. Seeing the compassion in Mack was heartwarming. Such a big, sexy person/animal was a turn on. The narrator did a great job with the characters, both male and female. The side stories were great as well. Looking forward to Book 2.

shifter story with a twist I like

A different view on a genre I love. Different shifters within the family? I like it. The story kept my attention with the various characters that meshed quite well, the suspense, and the twists... yes the twists ... I needed to find out more. The chemistry between Casey and Mack is palpable, their journey to HEA is not easy, but the truth gets revealed and it all works out in the end. This short book makes a good start to the series.

Mr. Callanan's voice is becoming one of my faves and it is the reason I picked this book. Love his various voices, male and female, young or old, the colourful nuances, the emotions behind the words. I hope he will narrate the next book, Rook, too.

I was given this free review copy audiobook at my request and this review is voluntary.

Great shifter romance with a fresh new approach

Mack, the first book in the Black Mountain Pack series by Miranda Lynn, is a unique, action packed, steamy paranormal shifter romance that is very well written and narrated. The story line and characters are well developed and a little quirky. I really like the fresh new approach to a shifter romance story line. This is my first book from this author and narrator. Definitely not my last.

The narrator, Brian Callanan, gives a great vocal performance by giving each character their own "voice" and keeping the listener fully engaged in the emotions, action and drama of the story. Treat yourself to a good listen and enjoy.

What a pack of a great listen

This is a fast paced listen with lots of myster , twists and turns , and drama . This is a shifter listen with lots of different shifters in a pack .
Hero is Mack . Heroine is Casey

Casey finds out she’s not 100% human She’s a shifter. Casey needs a lot of adjustments to do . Casey is a orphan female. And there is no one out there to guide her .
She meets Mack. Mack knows that he and Casey belong together He’s trying to help her .

This pack has lots of different shifters living together, witches , wolves and tigers.

Do they end up together or does Casey move on

Brian the narrator was great. His voice was clear . He did a great work doing all the different characters

MACK

I enjoyed this book! I will admit I was pretty put off by the cover layout, it seemed pretty cheesy LOL but the story itself is solid. It's a quick listen, short and to the point, but has all of the elements I like in a story. Friendship, love, action, and steam.. it's all there. The narrator did a good job and has a nice voice. Definitely worth a listen!

Is blood thicker than water?

This is an exciting story of a girl who has been living on the street for her whole life (at least as long as she can remember) who must now accept a tale of her true origin, from a group of people she barely knows. As she learns who is trustworthy and who should be feared, the story leaves readers to wonder, is blood thicker than water. I liked the story development. The narrator was good with the male voices but made the female lead sound extremely young and pitchy.
