Publisher's summary

The audiobook is a compilation of five true stories of adults (four woman and one man) trafficked as children. Each story is preceded by an overview of the type of trafficking the story addresses and followed up by a statement from the survivors themselves.

The purpose of the audiobook is to provide insights on how American children are taken captive and often coerced to remain in a lifestyle of commercial sexual exploitation.

Undeniable content couldn't put it down

The author does a fabulous job providing facts along with five real life heartbreaking stories that you will never forget. I read the book from cover to cover and couldn't put it down until finished. Unbelievable, raw, riveting, provoking and shocking! This content educated me and opened up my eyes to the unspeakable going on in our society. This is a must-read for the education of every American.

Harrowing and gut-wrenching at times, but very very educational. Definitely recommend giving this one a listen.

Heartbreaking

Very well written .. thr narrative was very good. I wasn’t surprised by the stories because of some of the work I’ve done in my career, but I thought this book was well done without being too harsh to listen to, but the truth is always hard to hear… these stories will always stay with me and motivate me to continue to care and advocate for ..the children of our country as well as all the children thank you for this book .

Difficult “read” but important for parents

Excellent read. The author explains what it is and identifies the language used. She also splits it into individuals stories derailing the different ways it can occur. Several years ago I learned my state has one of the highest occurrence in the nation, and being that I was already a sexual assault victim advocate, I felt driven to learn as much as possible to join the fight. While I have read many books on the topic, none have been this elaborate and thorough. Someone who has no knowledge can pick it up and learn as well as those of us who do have some knowledge can still learn.

MADE IN THE USA

I learned alot of what our children go through and how they get trapped into a life of trafficking , a very sad but strong message is being sent.
Great book.

Very sad, but necessary

I think the thing I appreciated most about this story was the knowledge of how kids are groomed and sometimes taken by “friends”. I have a 12 year old daughter and some of this information was enlightening and invaluable. If you’re a teacher or have children - it’s knowledge you should be made aware of. I was also horrified at how the majority of the stories were the kids own parents selling them or allowing the abuse to happen. I can’t even imagine feeling indifferent to my children’s abuse. It was heart wrenching. I’m not sure how any mother could hear their children discuss sexual abuse and dismiss it. Those parents should be jailed with the abusers.

Too much...stuff?

Nothing against the story at all. I am absorbing myself in this tragedy that’s occurring all around us and trying to learn more about trafficking ~ BUT...
The author of this book spends an awful lot of time just using other people’s quotes, and explaining what we are to expect in the story instead of TELLING the story. I’m finding myself want to tell her to “just get to the story already, I don’t need to have a detailed explanation about what the next section is about”. And if this is truly an educational book of that nature, then the description is misleading.
Again, the basis of the book is a tremendous topic and I have absolutely no issue with the subject matter. It would just be better if she got to the topic a little faster.
