About this listen

Starting a new school is never easy, but this time not fitting in could cost lives.

Despite being raised by shifters, my life was fairly ordinary...until I tried to break up a fight and got zapped with magic. Then, all hell broke loose.

The binding spell placed on me as an infant broke and I found out in a painful and rather unpleasant manner that I'm actually a witch.

Now, the very people my birth mother tried to hide me from want to use my concealment as an excuse to push an anti-shifter agenda. The only way to keep my adoptive family - and myself - safe is to enroll in the elite Ravencrest Academy and prove I can control my newfound abilities.

Unfortunately, raw power doesn't translate into competency and magic alone does nothing to help me navigate the ins and outs of witch society. But even with all the things working against me, I manage to make a few new friends and there's a spark of something more with the last person I expect.

Still, I can't let that distract me from the ugly truth that many who walk the halls of Ravencrest are eager to see me fail. To keep the peace between shifters and witches I must succeed...no matter the cost.

I found this to be a great story with believable characters, can’t wait to read the sequel!

Loved!

I honestly didn’t know if I would like this but I finished it in like a day, so I guess I did! It was an interesting story and I’m going straight into the second book to see what happens. This was an easy but interesting read that got me out of the book slump I have been in so far this month.

Very interesting

This story seemed OK wasn’t terrible Wasn’t great not worthy of a DNF. I did not care for the narrator at all. The storyline was a lot more YA than I wanted. I don’t think I will continue the series.

it is a pretty good story. enjoyable and the author isn't bad. some parts could have been better because she didn’t stick with the bland tome.

it is actually a good story.

I usually don’t like these academy books or YA because the kids are stupid or it involves a dumb harem where the girl just wants to sleep with everyone and there is no story but this isn’t like that there is actually a decent story and the mc isn’t overly stupid

Great

I loved this book. This is a reread for me to continue the series which has been on my TBR for a while and it was just as good the second time. I'm happy I didn't have to stop like last time and can continue because the series is now finished. It's even better on audible.

Loved it.

I enjoyed this story more than I expected. The characters are likeable and the mc was not a complete idiot. This is one I can easily reread/ listen to again. I will continue the series.

Surprisingly good

This is an interesting, sometimes exciting story, but the heroine comes across as a bit dense. It's one thing to be fallible, and, therefore, vulnerable, and it's another to be thick as a brick. The heroine is interesting, and I actually felt empathy for him, when I wasn't angry at him. I understood him. Somehow, the heroine was a less empathetic character. She was unkind and selfish in a way that made me dislike her. Hopefully, she will get better.

Heroine a bit dense

I’ve listened to plenty of audiobooks especially fantasy ones to tell you that unless you’re maybe a 12 year old child this is not in any way interesting. I listened to the whole thing. Can I get a refund on time?

Sooooo basic
