About this listen

A pet dragon, dangerous magic, and two hot guys...and that's just book 1!

This boxed set contains all three novels in the Quarter Witch Chronicles series, including Dragons are a Girl's Best Friend, While the Dragon's Away, and A Good Dragon is Hard to Find.

Description from Book 1:
On the outside, Ruby’s a normal college student.
On the inside?
She’s something else completely.

Magic runs through her veins, tempting her to use it, but Ruby isn’t sure how to control her new powers…until Ty, a dangerously handsome man from another world, spots her and identifies her as a witch.

He offers some answers, but they come with a cost. Not only does using her powers make her a target to others trying to steal her magic and slay her pet dragon, but each act of magic must be balanced—and magic takes whatever it wants.

Is all the chaos caused by casting a few spells to ruin her ex-boyfriend’s perfect skin worth it?
Heck yeah.

You’ll love this new adult urban fantasy series because it has everything you want to read about: magic, witches, dragons, romance, and a bit of good old-fashioned mischief.

Virtual narrators provide a fantastic way to enjoy works by great authors

I have personally chatted in the past with this amazing author. I had first found her ebook Blood and Holy Water. I then consumed most of her other stories. When this trilogy released one ebook at a time I finished the first 1 almost 2. Then I was having a hard time finding time to just sit and read. I'm a reseller online. This means usually if I'm holding a device I am working constantly. I reached out to Joynell and asked about the possibility of audiobooks. At the time she had said she wanted to but it was incredibly cost-prohibited. I had even mentioned seeing some YouTube read-alongs. She was going to look into it. So years went by and I found audiobooks were my new relaxing escape while still being able to do many things like driving, listing items, washing dishes, etc.
I then decided to check in on this trilogy. To my excitement, it was now available on audiobook. All 3 books and just 1 credit. Great! I looked to see what narrator the author went with as consuming so many audiobooks I knew some names. To my surprise, it said virtual AI reader. I was like oh ok this will be interesting. I then started the book series from the start and found I had no issues listening to the story. Yes, there were some monotoned feelings but, I was just grateful that the books were now in audiobook format. I loved listening and still being able to do everything I needed. I say this because there were many reviews that were tearing apart the virtual reader. I say get over it, technology allowed this author to get her books out to more readers who could listen and enjoy their talents. If you are so inclined to only hear from paid narrators then by all means find those books. It will be your loss to not be able to listen to this cute, magical, and clever trilogy. Its a fun relaxing listen that has the elements of magic, romance, mystical creatures and yet its in a younger then me genre. I'm 46 and I love these kinds of books.
I look forward to hearing more available books even if they do require the use of an AI narrator. Thank you Ms Joynell and I hope you continue more similar magical stories. Maybe even having a 40 something magical character. All my best wishes.

Virtual voice is not great for audiobooks!

They should get rid of virtual voice for audiobooks. There’s no inflection, you cannot tell one character from the next. You can’t tell emotions or anything.. The story will have would’ve been better with the real person reading it.

Disappointed

Hate the virtual voice narration. Really spoils the story. Lack of emotion, mispronounced words, emphasis on wrong words

it wasn't terrible

it's a good thing I grew up with Bruce Lee movies because the ai narration was very much like the badly dubbed movies that I loved to watch on Red Dragon Theater when I was a kid. otherwise the story was pretty good not great but not bad.
