About this listen

Nearly everything in Gregory’s life had changed by the end of his first year at the academy. Alone at the start of his novice year, he’d gotten engaged to Yukiko Warlin and found a friend in Jenn Bean by the time the annual tournament was over.

The three of them went on to join Aether’s Guard, bringing the name of the nearly dead clan back to life. Elder Lightshield, the leader of Aether’s Guard, gave them his support and backing and Magus Dia guided them. Their training with Armsmaster Gin continued, offering a safe haven and helping to shield them from the worst tribulations that academy life could bring.

Nothing is perfect, though. Gregory, Yukiko, and Jenn had also made enemies, and faced resentment and anger from the Eternal Flame clan more than once. Weathering the troubles that Nick Shun and his friends tried to bring down on them, the three magi rose to ever greater heights.

Gregory’s second tournament included the unexpected, but welcome, arrival of Carmichael Pettit, as well as a mysterious bet between Jenn and Yukiko. At the end of the tournament, Jenn had bested Yukiko and Gregory, and the three of them held three of the top four places.

With both of their families in attendance, Gregory and Yukiko wed after the tournament. The newlywed couple would face the academy and the world as one, and with their friends and their clan, they would strive to be at the pinnacle of their class once more.

This book contains some adult themes.

A must listen

A great continuation of the story with good character development really brings relationships to life. Also, I would buy this just for the 20 minutes I spent dying of laughter listening to the bloopers.

Great book and the narrator

Andrea you must know this by now but you are amazing narrator and I have a hard time finding another narrator that can fill so many roles and narrate to your Caliber. Daniel I’m satisfied with your work yet again I’m not a fan of the school/academy series of books that some authors put out. You have taken the mold and made it better with this series so far I look forward to more

Another highly enjoyable book can’t wait to read the next one. And once again the bloopers are hilarious.

Bloopers for the win!!!

This is a great series with a plot line to keep you interested, a beautifully crafted world and magic system, characters that are interesting, and best of all… one of the best narrators in the business. This is my fourth or fifth time listening through the entire series and the only temptation is to listen to the bloopers from the end credits before I start listening to the rest.

Loved it

Excellent book. I like how the story is progressing. It has some great new characters and a couple from the past. Andrea does a great job as always.

Great for the most part!

The unconventional relationship in my opinion always hurts things but that is a personal problem I have. If that doesn't bother you then add that last star to the story.

The narrator is a total boss and we could have been siblings in another life. If you listen to the bloopers it's a riot. I would pay a lot of money to watch her go through the recording process of a book or two. I would have abs from laughing at the rants.

More please

If I still want to listen to more after 3 books they are doing something right. Give it a chance if the blurb interests you. I also love the bloopers at the end.
