About this listen

A Paranormal Women's Fiction adventure for those who believe that finding your true self late in life is a blessing, not a curse - even if it turns out you may actually be cursed.

After finding my soon-to-be ex-husband together with my soon-to-be ex-assistant, I realize his "for better or for worse" didn't include my 40s.

An extended vacation on a remote Italian island sounds like the perfect antidote to a midlife crisis - until I arrive. I'm expecting Chianti and pasta. What I get is a run-down bed-and-breakfast with the oldest Nonna in existence.

There's something about this island. Something odd. Like how everyone keeps calling me Mamma or how I'm the first tourist in decades.

And that's before I wake up to a talking chipmunk holding a glass of wine. He says I have something ancient in me, and for once, it's not my creaking joints.

When I finally discover the island's deepest secrets, I know my 40s are about to be fabulous, if only I can survive long enough to enjoy them.

Awful narrator ruins the story

I am REALLY struggling with this audio book. I listen to audio books constantly as I don't watch TV much. Weather I am cooking or cleaning, driving, doing laundry etc., an audio book is my constant companion.
The narrator sounds like she is ALWAYS out of breath and struggling to read the next word to the point I "lose" the storyline.
For me, it ruins the book completely. In all fairness, I would have to read the story to tell you if I like it. I struggled to get to chapter 5 because I just can't deal with the narrator. it's so bad, I can't finish the book. HUGE disappointment. I'll never download another audio book with this narrator.

Good story, but..

I thought it was pretty good, though I believe I would have liked reading it better than listening to it. The voice actor did okay, but I couldn't get over how she gasps before every sentence. It was distracting. With all that said I will listen or maybe I should just read the next in the series lol.

Kind of different

I will read the next book because my curiosity is piqued. I may have enjoyed it better with a different narrator.

Great start to a new series

Heloise Hull has crafted a a great start to a new series. The characters were well created and interesting. The storyline was original and kept my attention from start to finish. Kitty Hendrix have a stellar performance. I highly recommend this book/audiobook.

Decent Story

The story was enjoyable. I learned a little history as well. The app repeated the same sentence a few times but for a included membership read not bad. Curious to see how it plays out.

Beware Another Cliffhanger

Creative light fantasy storyline with plenty of action suspense and mystery. Not just your average midlife crisis/divorce story. Filled with a little romance and flavored with the paranormal. Narrator does a great job portraying many characters and her Italian accent is a plus. Can’t wait for next in series.

incomplete

the story was fine but the aggra ating trend of authors now to play w cliff hangers to force onward to the next volumes is unprofessional for an artist. to write a book that 's excellent encourages the reader to demand more is an artistic and professional way to write. cliff hangers are a cheap way to sell not a good way to write well.

beware cliffhanger

The story idea was a good idea, but it was a bit slow going. I decided to continue and finished the book only to discover there was no ending. I would have preferred knowing there would be a second book prior to buying this first one. The story is entertaining, once I really started paying attention. I had to return to the beginning twice in order to put all the story together. I was not able to let my mind wander due to all of the action and the number of active characters in each scene. I'm not sure I really liked the narrator though. She wasn't bad, but there was just something missing. I did really like her voices for the characters... just not so much the main character.

I enjoyed the book

I really enjoyed the audible version. Very clear and easy to follow 👍😊. I would like for the characters to be a little more developed 🤗
