But everything comes at a cost, because when you work with magic, nothing is predictable.

I only wish we had a few more cute moments with our main leads, but just like most things it's too much fun to worry. but man My back hurts. some senses really got me scared, not kidding.

I loved the intertwining of magic, darkness, mayhem, and Menace. Hopefully there’ll be more stories to come.

Another absolutely incredible book by Alice Winters and another phenomenal performance by Greg Boudreaux! This book, like all other books written by Alice and narrated by Greg, kept me on the edge of my seat! I was so sad when I thought the series was done with Familiar Beginnings, having fallen in love with all the characters! I'm so excited for the next one!

I was very excited to find this addition to the Mage’s Familiar series! It kind of ends on a cliff hanger, so I’m assuming more are on the way.

5 stars for the narrator I love Greg Boudreaux he is one of my favs. He does another fantastic job here.

As usual something is amiss and Miles is front and center with his crew trying to figure out.
Surprise someone he thought was dead is not, no not THAT someone 😆
Curses are happening.
Betrayal arises in the gang.
Dark magic is always near.

This was an entertaining listen. I just needed a little more Miles and Havoc love for it to be a five star listen 🤷🏽‍♀️💅💁🏽‍♀️

Where the first 2 books in the series had growing character relations, world building, and took time to flesh out the story with visuals, this book fell flat.

Too often we the listener were told "[character] is struggling" but the words to show and express that were missing. Thankfully Greg Boudreaux is a master at his craft and his voice gave a needed boost to the emotions the characters were trying to portray.

Overall the book coasts on the beloved characters from the previous 2 books and everything felt like it was on cruise control.

I can't wait to hear more from Miles, Havoc and Menace. Looking forward to the next installment.
