About What I Expected, But Enjoyable

These books are basically junior novelizations of the movies. If you go into it recognizing that, then you won't be disappointed too much. Each one offers a little bit of extra character insight, which is always nice. :) Basically, if you liked these movies, and you don't mind simplified text designed more for grade-schoolers, then you'll probably like the books, too.

My only real complaints with this box set come from the three readers. Let me start by saying none of them were so terrible I had to stop listening. Diction and pace were good, and I still had a fun time listening to all of them. Of the three, I think I liked the reader for Captain America the least. His voice had a very 'newscaster' vibe to it without a lot of emotional inflection. For me, that made Captain America harder to listen to. The reader for Thor was better, but the voice he used for Loki was a little too similar to the one he used for a lot of his female voices. Every time Loki spoke, it tended to pull me out of the story. The Incredible Hulk's reader was probably my favorite of the three. His character voices felt spot on, and I really got the feel of being IN the movie.

So, overall, these were an enjoyable listen for a decent price point. I'm happy to have the set in my library, and I look forward to listening to the other box sets too.

Fun Short Books

Let me start off by saying there is no way I would pay money for these if they were individual books at this length. Them being bundled up makes it worth it. As someone who drives for a living and doesn’t get much time to watch films, these books were a great way to re-experience these films while driving. They don’t offer any extra insight and they literally follow the films beat for beat. The narration is very average compared to other audiobooks I’ve listened to so don’t expect anything special. Overall it’s a fun experience that helps you experience the films if you don’t have time to watch them. I will be picking up the other sets.

Wonderful translation

I do enjoy the movies made by Marvel. I truly appreciate the translations of these three stories into an audio book. Splendid!

Not bad.

The three stories were ok. Captain America was best. The others were interesting enough to occupy my mind while driving. The movies were better.

Ok for extra backstory, narrators not great

I was not a fan of 2 out of 3 of the narrators of these books. The first one wasn’t bad, the second was fairly monotone, and the third read in a voice that sounded like he was standing in the middle of a castle wearing a cloak: too over dramatic.

The stories themselves are essentially the movies written out, but only giving basic information regarding the plot. “This happened. Then this happened. This character thought this specific thought.” Not much description or exposition. Nothing to take you into the story. I would suggest it for 8-12 year olds looking to get a backstory refresher before seeing Avengers: Endgame, if they didn’t want to sit through the movies.
