About this listen

Learning that his former Ranger partner Gabe Navarro is on the way to the gallows on trumped-up charges and that his foster father, buffalo soldier John Cavanagh, is about to lose his land, Holt McKettrick ditches his mail-order bride at their Arizona Territories altar and rides off to Texas. In San Antonio, he meets a lively lady named Lorelei Fellows, who has just called off her own wedding and burned her bridal gown in the center of town. Thrown out of her father's house, she's hoping to pick up some cattle and start a small ranch of her own. Holt thinks she's out of her mind, but he revises his opinion after watching Lorelei learn to ride a mule named Seesaw, play a cutthroat game of poker, and all in all start to look mighty delectable. Cavanagh's land will be fine and Navarro won't hang - but is Lorelei out of the frying pan into the fire? Her father dies vastly indebted to the landowner who had framed Navarro.©2003 Sheila Williams (P)2003 Recorded Books, LLC Fiction Historical Historical Fiction Romance Western Romance Westerns Poker Texas

Narrating

I wasn’t sure when you changed narrator on the 4th book ... but I think Patricia did a great job... enjoyed the book and and the series

Great book

I would have to say one of the best books yet in the series. But they all are good.

Love this story

Would you consider the audio edition of McKettrick's Choice to be better than the print version?

Yes because I can enjoy listening on my long commute in the truck to and from work (typically 1.5 hours each way).

What did you like best about this story?

The narrator made Holt sound whimpy versus a tough Texas ranger. Would have preferred Jack Garrett who had narrated the previous three books in the series.

What aspect of Patricia Floyd’s performance would you have changed?

She can't do men's voices

good story, but...

I love this series! I really enjoyed how this story went. Nice action, terrible sorrow as well.

The narrator was the worst I've ever heard! She sounded like she was talking while holding something between her teeth half the time. The rest of the time was horrible as well, she just can not read for an audience!

I missed Jake Garrett voice

I missed Jake Garrett as the voices of the McKettrick's. The narrator does a wonderful job for the women, wish they could have voice the book together.

Holt

Love it....though I think it would have been even better with a male narrator. Jack Garret perhaps.

Holts Story

I really enjoyed this book. So much better than I was expecting. I was wondering if they were going to hook him up with the teacher. I just didn’t see how that could work. It was a good story from beginning to end. It tempered humor with tragedy. Tilly’s character made me cry. I am sorry to have come to the end of the brothers stories. I enjoyed them all. Ms. Miller is one of my favorite authors.

No bad at all

An enjoyable story which gives us an introduction to the McKettrick family of Indian Rock which Miller does a great job with in McKettrick’s Luck, Pride and Heart. Christina Moore, the true name of the narrator, does an excellent job bringing the characters to life. One might find Lorelei Fellows, Holt’s love interest, an exasperating character but then there is no explaining what makes some women think and act the way they do. I also found Holt’s reaction to her antics a little over the top but then there are those A types who do tend to over react. It just seems out of character for the strong cowboy persona generally presented in western genre. If you must have steamy sex, best move on to the other books about this family. If you don’t need that and just like to relax with a good story then you should enjoy this edition of the McKettrick clan.

Great story (series)

This is part of a fantastic series and a wonderful story, but the narration of this particular book is just terrible. Not only does she do a terrible job of reading, the long pauses make you wonder if their is an error or your recording has ended
