About this listen

In the newest Argeneau novel from New York Times best-selling author Lynsay Sands, an immortal barely escapes a raging fire only to kindle a sizzling passion with his potential life mate.

Mac Argeneau knows all too well: Immortals can be killed. Not with holy water or silver crosses, but by decapitation or being set on fire. So when Mac’s house bursts into flames - with him inside - he’s sure it was no accident. But who would want to kill a scientist specializing in hematology? There is a silver lining: A blonde investigator appears on the scene and sparks feelings in him that have been dormant for centuries.

CJ Cummings is in town on a special investigation, but she’s been waylaid by the local police to deal with this arson case. The biggest mystery is how this sexy scientist with silvery blue eyes has emerged from a blazing inferno without a burn mark on him. He’s clearly hiding something. Sure, she’d love to see him without his lab coat, but she’s got a job to do - despite his insistence that he needs a bodyguard and...he wants her.

But when a second attempt on their lives puts CJ in harm’s way, it’s Mac who will do anything to safeguard the woman who’s destined to be his life mate.

Narrator was good, but not for this series

No-tay. Continuity issues aside, it was good. It was a nice change to skip the "turning" scene. Honestly, I have gotten to the point of fast forwarding those bits in recent books.

Solid Addition

I thought this 32nd Installment of the Argeneau series was a solid addition. I enjoyed the story - and I like it when she focus's on topics that aren't as high in the public's awareness, like the one she tackles here. I sympathize with CJ's story - but then again - I know what happened to her actually DOES happen in real life - even good, church going, faithful partners/spouses. Sadly. Though, I do agree with the folks pointing out that Macon could have done with a little more of an introduction to the Argeneau readers than he got. I honestly don't remember him being mentioned before, even in the short story about Teddy and Katricia - apologies if he was. As a fan of hers since the first Argeneau book was released in 2009, I have to admire anyone that can write 32 novels along a specific storyline, centered around a specific set of characters in a relatively small "universe." Also to those that are perhaps new to the series that are complaining about the diversity of character types in this book (i.e. "social justice" topics) -- Ummmm Ms. Sands has always been inclusive and accepting of ALL types of personalities, experiences and, yes social issues in this series of books. So what?? They are her books and her stories - she can tell them any way she and her publisher agree is best. The "Anti-SJW" stuff is soooooo 10 years ago - get over yourselves. The whole commenting on stuff like this crying about an "SJW" message is actually getting boring. The world is looking at you in it's review mirror.

I love this series!

I actually got my daughter hooked on this series and she loves it just as much as I do. I am probably the only one on earth that has never read or seen Twighlight but these books just seem more real or possible. I have already pre ordered the next one. Just 18 more days.

Another great story from Lynsay Sands

Loved the tension between Mac & CJ. This story had a good reason for CJ's reluctance. The subplot of the story was interesting & true to life. There are bad cops who abuse their power. I've seen it happen. Not "woke" just life.

Would have given the performance 5 stars had it not been for the jarring mispronunciation of Notte. The first time she said "Not" instead of "No-Tay" it took me right out of the story. Which is too bad as I've really enjoyed this narrator's previous work. I blame whoever is responsible for continuity, not Stacey.

Another fabulous Argeneau book

The story was exactly the fabulous work that I have come to expect from Lynsay Sands. The performance was pretty good, too. One note: Notte is an Italian name, making the pronunciation (No Tay). It sounds silly pronounced like NOT.

Another hit for Lynsay Sands

An interesting new addition to the Argeneau family of books. Applause given to the narration by Stacey Glemboski. Now just waiting for book 33.
