Night Man is coming...and you don’t want to be caught in his sights.

From award-winning and USA Today best-selling author Brett Battles comes Mercy, the highly anticipated third thriller in the Night Man Chronicles featuring Nate, from Battles' best-selling Jonathan Quinn series.

“Help me! Please!”

With their jobs in the spy world on suspension, all Nate and Jar wanted was a little vacation time out of the city. But not even two days on the road, their plans are hijacked by a teen’s cry.

What starts out as helping the kid out of a tricky situation leads Nate and Jar into a dark world of fire and hate, of greed and corruption.

As much as they might want to continue on their way, neither would ever do so.

Because helping those who aren’t in a position to help themselves is Nate and Jar’s specialty.

If you enjoy action-packed mystery crime thrillers with high-stakes suspense, surprising plot-twists, and a cast of unforgettable characters, then join millions of fans who love Battles’ novels and start listening to Mercy, your next great listen, today.

Very entertaining

I enjoyed the story and performance very much. There are many mentions about Covid-19. It will be a time reminder for readers in the future. I love the part about being careful to wear masks, social distance, and not make physical contact with strangers. I love it when a writer keeps it real and in this case acknowledges scientific precautions.

I also like the authors genuine love and concern for children.

I enjoyed his Rewinder series. I will buy more of his titles. Great writer! Great narrator!

Annoying mask and social distancing lecturing!

Books are for an escape and I have enjoyed the Night Man series thus far. This one was annoying with all the lecturing about wearing a mask, social distancing, etc. combined with the denigrating of country folks as ignorant where CA folks know better... But now I will defend that thread in the book as Nate lives outside LA CA and that is pretty much exactly how most of them talk about country folks and COVID-19.

Mercy me! Night Man Chronicles gets more audictive!

This is third in the Night Man Chronicles and, as in the first two, does not disappoint. I can’t stress it enough, start this series. I didn’t want it to end. Nate and Jar (and Liz who seems to be slowly fading in the last two books) lead us on an exciting and intricate thriller to assist a troubled family. Emotions run high as we go through feelings of sadness, hope, vengeance and more. Brilliant Brett Battles and the incomparable Zach Villa are a precise and perfectly paired duo. I can’t imagine one without the other. I anxiously await Book #4. I’ve already listened to the first two books a second time. It was like listening to them for the first time. So highly recommended! Worth a cherished credit, however, I was lucky to purchase it for a reasonable $12. I’m on that damned roof again, shrieking, “EPIC, I say!”

Could have done without the...

Lefties are so much more enlightened - Conservatives are so ignorant jabs throughout the otherwise, great story. Now that we've learned masks and jabs do nothing to save us from the boogeyman virus, can we move on?

Great story, but too much emphasis on Covid.

Great book. Perhaps the story relates the paradigm of a person that lives in California and fully bought into all of the Covid propaganda; however, wearing a mask outside in a national park is a bit over the top. Also, a bit judgmental and intolerant about Covid issues.

A real California story

See Sherri’s review below. It’s disconcerting that so many mask references that really had nothing to do with the story were so prominent. Too bad because it took away from it and this ultimately has changed my thoughts on BB. I really didn’t buy this with the hope there was any political subtext.

Politics

I don’t like the references to the pandemic and the masks that many of us believe are fools gold. I’m vaccinated but the masks make no sense.

Wonderful series and narration..

I have to agree with A LOT of reviewers on here and on Goodreads about the mentioning of masks and Covid throughout the book. Mr. Battles might have overdone it this time. BUT besides just shaking my head and sighing I carried on and enjoyed the story immensely.

Nate and Jar did a great job in saving Evan and Sawyer from their creep-of-a-father, Chuckie (a name Nate gave to the father, Charles. LOL)

No romance. And no swearing (which is ridiculous, IMO.)

As for the narration: Spectacular! I have over 1500 books in this library and I can't think of a narrator that I like more than Zach Villa. I'd be ok if he narrated all my books. He's the main reason I can't wait for the next Night Man book to come out.

Really enjoying this series

I am a big fan of the Johnathan Quinn series and am liking this offshoot even more. One of the highlights of this series is when Nate, or is it Brett the writer, does little asides to the audience. These little internal dialogues always make me smile. Keep them coming Brett. A big 5 stars.

Zach Villa is awesome

The story is pretty good, not much challenge since the main characters are so over the board capable. I mostly loved it for the narration. Zach Villa is absolutely talented! Could not put it down. I love thee ntire series.
