Rita Hayworth thinks she's finally settling in to her new life in Hallow Hill. But boy, are there some surprises in store for her.

From Rita Hayworth I have a daughter who knows nothing about my life in Hallow Hill, and she's coming for college holiday break. Her visit will dovetail the Solstice Court Meet. It will be close, but if all goes according to plan, I’ll be out of magistrate robes in time to meet the plane.

The problem here is that I have to include the qualifier if all goes according to plan, and I ask you. When has anything in my life ever gone according to plan?

It may be too late for super shiny hair, going without a bra, or sleeping eight hours without a potty break. But it seems that it's not too late for navigating magical politics, expatriating, romance, and saving the world.

Fantasy for everyday heroines over forty.

Again, an excellent, fun book

So glad to discover this author .... there are only 3 or 4 authors who can hold my attention and enjoyment long enough to get me to book 3 in a series ... but this author has joined that list, along with Drew Hayes (Super Powereds, Hephaestus), Ilona Andrews (Hidden Legacy, Innkeeper), Ben Aaronovitch (Rivers of London) .... and I'll purchase book 4 in this series as soon as I finish this review... Again, if you like to see/hear courtroom stories, and stories of wrongs and crueltys being righted, then this is your kind of series. Alas, this book also ends with a cliffhanger, an unnecessary one, as I would have bought the next book anyway, but I can understand an author being uncertain whether she had done enough to earn our interest in the next book, so, I can't work up any irritation about the cliffhanger in the very last sentence of the book. It's not like the cliffhanger loomed over the whole book -- no, it was just the last paragraph, the rest of the book went perfectly and the issues were happily concluded. I highly recommend this series.

The Best

Any Victoria Danann book is an automatic download for me. I absolutely love her books!
On this one however, the chapters 2 + 3 are transposed. Other then that, its a fantastic listen, enjoyable as all her books. The story line is capturing, great world building and in-depth character development. The narrator is superb.

Nice plot

I don't write reviews.
But the voice of the daughter was so heinous.
If Mae West grew up in LA I can only imagine this would be the result. Everything else was pretty good. How can we even somewhat like her, sounding like that?
This is the only reason I won't read the rest of the books.

Excellent addition to series

Victoria Danann has crafted an excellent addition to her Not Too Late series. It’s full of fun and laughter as in others installments. I especially like when the two main characters broke out in a song from Bonnie Tyler, “Holding Out Fir a hero.”
Michellea Miss, as always, gave a stellar performance.

Misplaced chapter

The narration is, as usual, superb as is the story. However Chapters 2 and 3 have been transposed. When corrected, my overall rating will jump to 5. Prologue appears at the end.
