About this listen

Everyone has two remarkable, related capacities. We can aspire to something more and we can envision ways to achieve it. But if we're capable of aspiring to something better and making effective plans, why is it sometimes so hard to reach that next level of success?

To achieve the results we want, we first need to understand how our thinking drives our actions. By understanding the latest science about how the human brain works, we can leverage it to maximize our performance. Our daily experience, our plans and goals, our actions and reactions are all the product of our thoughts and mindset.

Drawing upon the latest insights from the fields of performance psychology, neuroscience, and cognitive science, as well as case studies from their own clients, bestselling authors Michael Hyatt and Megan Hyatt Miller explore the power of ideas to shape superior outcomes not only in business but in the rest of life.

Audible version the best version

Having two narrators when reading the book was a bit confusing to follow while reading. The audible version with the narrators each reading their part the reader is able to follow the storylines easier. I thought it was going to be more action based strategies along the way.

Can you explore the stories you believe with an open hand?

I assumed, based on the title—Mind Your Mindset: The Science That Show Success Starts With Your Thinking—that this might be a self-help book about growth mindsets and powerful leadership strategies. But my assumption is an illustration of exactly what the book addresses: “Anything we know based solely on our experience will be limited by that same experience.” Rather, this book is a beautiful exploration of our brains and how we create intricate stories, giving context to data and meaning to experiences.

This book is an encouragement to extend grace to others and the stories they believe, and it’s an invitation to hold your own stories with an open hand.

“When we are unwilling to revise our thinking in light of changing circumstances, we wind up with an unreliable story.”

By exploring the stories I believe, I am continually finding ways to extend space and grace to others and growing myself. Now, more than ever, culture needs leaders who are willing to venture into new depths, setting the example for our families, teams, and communities. All of that starts in your head.

But you don’t have to take my word for it.

Hoped for more insight

While a fun read, really wanted more from this. Overall the wisdom fell flat. Still a nice pleasant read just not as fulfilling as I was imagining.

Book for anyone trying to do anything!

This book is a MUST-READ for everyone who is trying to do anything! Is that too general? I thought so as well until I read this book. My “narrator” had me believing well-worn half-truths about what was possible. Have you ever heard the tongue-in-cheek saying, “Don’t believe everything you think”? It is true. Our minds do not always tell us the whole story or the best story. I love how the authors, Michael Hyatt and Megan Hyatt Miller, bring complex neuroscience and case studies to retell their own experiences and give practical applications. There are a lot of books that bring up issues and concerns. I prefer books that give me action steps and processes to correct issues they bring up. This book does just that. I strongly encourage everyone to pick it up.

Love the Hyatt’s but not this book

I absolutely love Michael Hyatt and everything that he puts out so I’m disappointed to say that this is the first book that left me wanting. I will still follow and soak up everything that they put out as I’m a supporter of them and all that they do but unfortunately this book didn’t meet my expectations.

being showed the ability to change your narrative

Enjoyed this read. Both authors were excellent. I enjoyed how they both waved the intricate parts of their lives in this book. I was inspired to change my narrative. Also was intrigued by the information on how the brain actually works. definitely will keep in my library and read again.

Are you ready for a new story?

In a quest to improve my professional life, this book showed me how to improve all aspects of my life.
The power of the narrator of your story was a new insite for me. Learn like I did about how what you remember things could be a false story. I learned how to interrogate those old stories that limited my life to open up the power of what I am truly capable of.
I highly recommend this read (Listen) to anyone looking to better their thoughts and inturn, all aspects of their life.
