Publisher's summary

Emmy and Peabody Award-nominated health reporter Cleo Stiller’s fun(ny) and informative collection of advice and perspectives about what it means to be a good guy in the era of “toxic masculinity” and #MeToo.

Here are a couple of self-evident truths: The Harvey Weinsteins of the world need to go, sexual assault is wrong, and women and men should be equal. If you’re a man and disagree with any of the aforementioned, then this book isn’t for you.

But if you agree - you’re probably one of the “good guys.” That said, you might also be feeling frustrated, exasperated, and perhaps even skeptical about the current national conversation surrounding #MeToo and toxic masculinity (among many other things). You’ve likely found yourself in countless experiences or conversations lately where the situation feels gray, at best. You have a lot to say, but you’re afraid to say it and worried that one wrong move will land you in the hot seat. From money and sex to dating and work and everything in between - it can all be so confusing! And when do we start talking about solutions instead of putting each other down?

In Modern Manhood, health reporter Cleo Stiller sheds light on all the “gray areas” out there, using conversations that real men and women are having with their friends, their dates, their family, and themselves. Free of judgment, preaching, and sugar-coating, Modern Manhood is engaging, provocative, and, ultimately, a great resource for gaining a deeper understanding of what it means to be a “good man” today.

Fantastic book. Spoke directly to me.

This book directly addressed a lot of the burning questions and issues I have been thinking about lately in regards to my identity, role and responsibilities as a man in this world. It was so comforting to know that there are many others struggling with the same concerns, and to have someone speak right to me about them in ways I can actually understand and use in my daily life.

Illuminated Way Through the Muck

As someone who studies human behavior for a living, I’m pretty comfortable with evaluating interactions through a factual lens and removing emotion. That being said, some of the topics explored in this book I have not touched with a 10-foot pole, whether unconsciously or otherwise.

It was refreshing, clear, covered multiple perspectives, and included some actionable suggestions presented in a non-judgmental way. It fed healthy discussion in a few of my relationships and overall I would recommend this books to all genders.

This book is great, opened a whole new perspective on thoughts! Enjoyed the listen very much

Finished the book..so so good. Getting for my brother..it really is something else to hear it and reflect and look at things in a new ‘encompassing’ light..very very happy got it ..That last conclusion chapter..I wish she could have come back and read it in her own words ..but, all in all, a great job 👏😁
It’s brought in a whole new perspective on thoughts that I’ve, being a man in my 30’s, just took for granite

You’ll enjoy it..its even a great “parents guide” on how to bring up topics with your sons/kids

Very radical piece

I picked up this book to learn more about perspective of people who fight for “gender equality”. The author presents a very non-objective and strongly skewed perspective that I don’t believe represents perspective of people I met in my life and values they stand for. I think this book oversimplifies the subject and hurts the actual cause. I have 2 daughters that I would like to have better future and equal opportunities as the rest of our community. I don’t think this perspective promotes a mutually respected views.
