About this listen

The Marines know one thing: it will be the largest battle in the history of the Corps. Can they stop the Terracotta Army?

In capitals across Europe, protestors decry the atrocities, while hypersonic glide bombs devastate the civilian centers, industrial hubs, and the most critical pieces of infrastructure. A new reality has begun to take hold in people’s minds. The end is coming.

The nightly news doesn’t help.

The war in the Russian Far East has ground to a halt. US and Japanese Marines battle for control of the Yaeyama Islands. With spring around the corner, the fear is that China has one last gambit to play, and people are wondering if NATO and Russia are ready.

The Allies have 750,000 soldiers and the US Eighth Army is planning wholesale destruction through China.

But time isn’t on their side. The fate of the free world rests on two fronts: the battlefields and the political minefield back home. The analysts know that Jade Dragon still has a few tricks waiting. They’re just not sure they can defeat them. The survival of the allied nations hangs in the balance.

Compelling story line

This series has kept me wanting more, but the sixth book in the series was full of unnecessary war talk. How many books do you need to tell this story? I sincerely hope book seven will be the last book in the series.

The best

The best author and narrator combo out there right now. Intelligent, relevant, and entertaining. Looking forward to the next book.

Must Read for Military Thriller Readers

Scary-believable fiction. Near-future technology combined with current geopolitical intrigue makes for an entertaining, and sometimes eerie story. Excellent narration.

Hue City

Is pronounced Way city. CG are named after battles. So it was named after the Vietnam Battle. It takes just a bit more research, or talking to military experts, to stitch together the nuances.

Actor should have been coached on military terms

The actor does a superb job at getting accents and foreign pronunciation correct but struggles with basic military jargon.

Characters’ ranks seem to change arbitrarily throughout book. Needs more consistency.

Awesome Continuation

The invasion of Taiwan is underway and Jade Dragon is getting pushed back on various initiatives. Looking forward to book 7.

Still an intriguing techno military thriller

At book 6, it’s still holding my attention, it’s still an intriguing techno military read.

Fantastic!

This series has proven to be one of the best and most engaging that I have listened to on audible. I am also a fan of Mitch Rapp, The Gray Man, and Jack Reacher. those series tell a new story with each book. Each volume in the Monroe Doctrine series builds upon the last in much the same manner as The Gray Man wanders the globe. The series is not meant to be told in a single book, so don't expect it to wrap up nice and tidy at the conclusion of each book. The authors do a fantastic job getting military nomenclature correct along with many of the idiosyncrasies of military life. I won't do a summary of the book, but I will say that if you appreciate a good series similar to what I mentioned earlier, you will surely appreciate Monroe Doctrine. Start with Volume 1!
The narrator of this series is fantastic! One of the top two i have listened to on audible!

Hue City

Every time it’s pronounced wrong I cringe..:).

I do really like the series. Well written with a good storyline. Only critique is that worldwide economy would be so depressed this war couldn’t last so long. The logistics behind this os mind boggling.
