About this listen

After the untimely death of her husband, Rain Wilmot has returned to her family's waterfront log cabin in Lofty Pines, Wisconsin. The cabin is peaceful compared to Rain's corporate job and comes with an informal library that Rain's mother, Willow, used to run. But as Rain prepares for the reopening of the library, all hopes for a peaceful life are shattered: She discovers the body of Thornton Hughes, a real-estate buyer, on the premises.

The community of Lofty Pines starts pointing fingers at Willow since she has been unusually absent from the library this summer. A fishy rumor surfaces when Rain learns that Willow had been spending a lot of time with Thornton. The town even thought they were having an affair.

While theories swirl about Thornton's death, Rain takes it upon herself to solve the case to exonerate her mother. As more clues surface, she will have to piece together the mystery. But if she isn't careful, she may be the next to end up dead in the water.

YES if you love cute, fun, clean cozy mysteries!

I found this author and series because I am big fan of Jenn McKinlay's Library Lover's and cozy mystery series and also the narration of Allyson Ryan. I am so glad I gave this series a try! I held my review until I listened to both books that are currently out in this series and can now wholeheartedly say I have found a new author to add to my favorites list.

Holly Danvers did an excellent job of crafting an enjoyable cozy mystery. It is lighthearted, fun and is CLEAN! There is just the perfect amount of intrigue mixed with giggle worthy moments to keep you interested from start to finish and, speaking of finish, she also leaves the reader with fun cliff-hangers.

If you are looking for a new cozy mystery I do not think you would regret giving this series a try. I can't wait to see where she takes the series!

Rain and Julia and the love of books

I loved this! It was a slow beginning but it all came together. This was a good mystery. I had a hard time putting this down. I liked all of the characters so far. Rain and Julia are life long friends that drifted apart but easily came back together like it never happened. I like the setting too. It's a library at a family home that they decided to share with the community. It's different. I can forsee potential issues and romances too. Hopefully I'm right! I'm starting book 2 tomorrow.

5 stars

This is a pretty good cozy mystery with engaging characters and an entertaining plot. The pace was a little slow and the author tried to create tension by unneccessary explanations but other than that I enjoyed this book and look forward to the next book in this series.

Awesome new cozy mystery!

Murder at the Lakeside Library is the debut of a new cozy mystery series with likable interesting characters, an intriguing mystery, humor, and potential romance. Rain returns to her family’s summer cottage after her unfaithful husband dies. Her mother and father are both abroad in different places and Rain is worried about their relationship. She meets up with her best friend and together they reopen the little library and uncover clues about the dead body they find nearby. The local police detective is her friend’s brother Jace. This book has everything I love about cozy mysteries and was very enjoyable!
