Great read... or listen!

I was hesitant to purchase this and start another series, but I'm glad I did. The author left a great hook at the end that encourages me to read the next installment.

Lots of blah blah

I am always looking for a new series and decided to try this one. Not a good decision. The story is told in far to much painful detail. The story moves along like some UK television series taking too long to get to the point. They don't have a good story to tell so they bore you to death with babble about what 40 characters were thinking about while waiting for paint to dry. I wonder if the UK police are really so political. The story makes you wonder if they solve crimes by accident and while hiding from their bosses. My advice look elsewhere for a good story.

Good story. Mediocre narration

Liked the story but the narration made it difficult to tell when the narrative switched from one character to the next. The narrator needs to learn to use micro pauses

Fun listen….

Another great book by Faith. Another book you haven’t solved until the end of the book.

Well written

I enjoyed this book. I was pulled into the lives of the characters and I’m interested to see what happens as I read the next in the series. The only critique I would have is that I sometimes had to go back and relisten because there was not enough pause in between scene changes. That’s one of the tricky parts about listening to a book versus reading it.

Good story line

Liked the story line. Never knew the canal boats were called Narrow boats. The narrator was excellent.

A good police procedural

The only complaint I had was that there were too many characters to keep up with. I wished the narrator would have done more pauses when the story jumped to another character.

Better than I expected

This book/audiobook was better than I expected. Faith Martin crafted a believable mystery with some twists and turns, but not as many as my favorite authors. This was the first in the DI Hillary Greene series and I have downloaded the next installment. Gemma Dawson’s performance was enjoyable and easy to hear. I recommend this book to mystery fans.

Great start to series!

Police work is mostly the same the world over (except for terminology) and especially Internal Affairs investigations. The good detective is still getting screwed over by her divorced and dead police crook husband because the filth need to be sure that she wasn't working with him (particularly since they never knew about his 10 year involvement in International crime). The good and bad about cops and their interpersonal problems is well depicted, and the mystery (not just the murder) investigation is worth reading and paying for.
